If you watch news on television, ABC is a name you know well (or are at least familiar with). We knew we had to head over to their URL when we began to compare news websites on the Internet. How did this news leader measure up when compared to the other Internet giants? Here's the 4-1-1...

Our Favorite Feature:

We really liked the Featured Discussions section of the ABC news website. The site features a topic and then visitors can comment on and discuss the topic in detail. It provided for some very interesting and thought-provoking conversation and reading.

The ABC News Experience:

We must say that the ABC News website was one of the most attractive news websites we visited. While many of the sites overwhelmed us, this site provided us with a user-friendly layout and an easy-to-navigate menu.

There were a variety of features and stories available, ranging from politics to sports and everything in between. The top headlines section, predominately displayed on the homepage, let us know what the most recent headlines entailed and videos to the right let us see coverage of some of the latest stories.

The blog roundup was also interesting, highlighting posts from a variety of news-related blogs. Politics seemed to be the main focus of discussion, but other topics were also covered, adding value to the section.

And for those who love to debate, there's a Featured Discussion section of the site. The site publishes a topic and visitors get to debate/discuss it. Just beware that this section is not for the faint of heart or those who can't stand confrontation. The conversation gets heated, and people don't seem too concerned about holding back or sugar-coating their feelings here.

Another thing we liked about the site was the ABC News Programs section. It featured topics covered by ABC shows like 20/20 and Good Morning America. The articles here were interesting, informative and even entertaining.

All in all we felt that the ABC News website wasn't as stiff and formal as Reuters, and it seemed to hold more value than Google or Yahoo! News. It proved to be one of the more well-rounded news websites on the Internet.

ABC News Customer Service:

ABC News actually offers quite a comprehensive customer service section. You can browse through the FAQs or contact a number of departments via email. When we sent a question into technical support we received an answer within 48 hours, which was very impressive. Since many of the news websites on the Internet don't offer any customer service whatsoever, ABC News proved to be a breath of fresh air.

Upside:

Responsive customer service, interactive discussion forums, comprehensive news coverage.

Downside:

Not a lot of hard-core financial and market news.
