Best website for buying books and any other random thing you could want. You can buy from Amazon or from users selling it themselves. Plenty of options to pick with good prices

Star Reviews was curious what the Internet megastore Amazon had in its book department. You all know a good book can be fun to read on the beach, a learning tool, or even serve as a desktop decoration. The possibilities are endless. Online bookstores have made the search for your favorite authors and titles practically effortless, while saving you money, which we know you love. We really loved Amazon Books and felt they led the pack in our online bookstore reviews for offering an extensive book collection among other cool products like electronics, DVD’s and gadgets. They aren’t everyone’s favorite Web retailer for no good reason. Here’s what we found for you.

Amazon Books offers one of the best online bookstore selections we have come across yet. There is a huge variety of genres with categories like ‘Bargain Books,’ ‘Fiction,’ ‘Recreation,’ and ‘Reference & Textbook.’ They even have books on tape and CD for those preferring alternative reading methods.

Navigating the Amazon website:

The Amazon Books website is very easy to navigate, with all book categories and products clearly labeled on the left margin of the page. From the upper tab, you can choose to browse books, music, DVDs, and kids’ selections. Once you are in the right section, you can enter your title, author, or keyword in the search box. You can also browse by desired category.

After a list of possible titles is generated, you can further sort these by relevance, customer reviews, price, bestselling, publication date, and the alphabet. Using these options is a good way to narrow down the results further to help you pinpoint what you’re looking for. When you pick a title to look at further, you’ll clearly see the price, product details (length, publisher, book description, and more), and customer rating. If you want to purchase the item, you simply click on “Add to Shopping Cart.”

Selection:

Amazon Books offers customers a vast array of titles from genres like nonfiction, fiction, children’s, performing arts, computers & Internet, and mystery. There is something for everyone, both in pricing and type of book. Most every book in print is available through this online bookstore, and if it isn’t yet, you can pre-order it.

Completing Your Order:

After adding items to your shopping cart, click on “Proceed to Checkout” and you’ll be prompted to sign in to your Amazon.com account. You’ll select your shipping and billing address then you’ll be asked to select your shipping options. Four choices are available: free (if you’ve spent over $25), standard, one-day, or two-day. Finally, you enter your payment information, review your purchase information, and submit your order. As with any purchase made on Amazon.com, you’ll receive an email confirmation of your order and you can track your order through the web site interface.

Amazon’s pricing is usually comparable to or less than their competitors’ prices. Price comparisons for the paperback version of Dan Brown’s The Da Vinci Code:

Customer Support:

Amazon’s customer support is highly impressive. First of all, they offer you an extensive Help department, with links to answers on everything from shipping, account info and pricing to tracking packages, cancelling orders and purchasing gift certificates. Telephone support at Amazon is thoroughly accommodating, offering you helpful and friendly service.

Email support is also quick and efficient, responding to Star Reviews personally within 24 hours. The customer support rep even gave us helpful links so we could visualize what they were talking about. One complaint we had was actually sending a support email, as we had to click through twice, because the form kept asking for our order number. For those that just have general questions or concerns, this might get annoying.

Upside:

Huge variety of books. Lower prices than most online bookstores.

Downside:

Site can be a bit overwhelming with its enormous number of links, titles and offers. Email support requests order number, so you must click several times for it to accept your request without one.

Summary:

Overall, we felt that Amazon Books deserved 6.0 Stars for its amazing selection, low prices and great customer support options. They truly have their stuff together and it’s obvious in their user-friendly, fun-to-browse website interface. Amazon lets you search for books in their online bookstore by category, title, author, keyword, bestsellers and more. Customers can even break down their search results further by relevance, price, publication date or first letter. Talk about detailed! We feel Amazon Books offers the most seasoned book lover or even casual readers a fun, versatile book-buying experience. You can even snag yourself a new TV or toolset while you’re at it.
