When it comes to planning a trip, there are three essential elements to the equation – airfare, hotels and the car rental. If you're like many travelers, you can spend hours comparing airfare and hotel offerings while car rentals take a seat on the back burner. When Star Reviews decided to compare car rental services to rank the best of the best, it was only natural that we delve into the world of Avis. They do, after all, claim to be one of the best car rental services, if not the best in the world. Here's what we found out...

Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:

Getting lost can ruin a vacation quicker than you can say "where's the next gas station?" That's why we really liked the fact that most customers can add a Garmin GPS navigation unit onto their rental package.

The Avis Website Experience:

The Avis website, while not flashy or overly-aesthetic, was definitely functional. Not only did they offer tools for reserving your car rental online, but the Avis website also offered car rental guides, information on specials and promotions and other valuable car rental information.

From the landing page of the site we were able to enter the dates of our trip and the area where we needed to pick up the car. We were immediately presented with our options, which turned out to be only one rental facility located about 13 miles from our desired pick-up location. We were then given the option of adding the Garmin to our rental and were asked how many child seats we needed. After making our selections, we were taken to a page detailing the rental options available to us.
