Purchasing software for your computer can be an expensive proposition. Most people only buy what they absolutely have to have for work or what they want for gaming purposes. The usual place to buy software is in your local electronics store, but their selection can be limited, prices high and the only way you know what’s in that expensive package is the manufacturers description. Fortunately, many websites can now be found online that deal strictly in downloadable shareware and freeware and often include reviews by users and editors so you can have a better idea of what you are purchasing before you do. The Star Reviews team took a look at some of these sites so we could see what they had to offer. BlueChillies.com was one of the sites we looked into for our download website reviews and comparisons. Our Favorite BlueChillies Feature:

We really liked the fact that BlueChillies.com offers off brand versions of popular applications. This can save you quite a bit of money, and you may find something you actually like better than the high-priced alternatives.

The BlueChillies.com Experience:

BlueChillies.com is a wonderfully-designed website that is easy to navigate and laid out in an extremely user-friendly fashion. There is so much information on these freeware and shareware sites, it was a welcome relief to find one that didn’t tax our eyes and brains more than necessary.

We easily located the search options on the BlueChillies webpage. Each software category has a drop down menu of of sub-categories, making the site very easy to navigate. Under Business, for example, you will find Databases, E Commerce, Enterprise Software, Finance Software and more. These links will bring you directly to a page of software listings, while maintaining the search list on the side of the page.

If you'd rather not navigate through the site and you have a general idea of what you're looking for, the keyword search will prove to be very useful. While you may have to weed through a few irrelevant search results, we found the feature to be quite efficient.

We found the details page for the various software downloads to be very easy to read . Each download includes a brief description of the item, a star rating, the size, the license type (freeware or shareware), the price, the system requirements and a screen shot. A link will take you to more detailed information and other related downloads.

This BlueChillies website does contain advertising, but it is clear what is advertising and what is not – unlike some of the other download websites we visited. You aren’t likely to find yourself navigating away from the site by accident.

The only thing that might present a problem for some shoppers is the fact that when we tried to search for popular software programs, we found the site did not carry them. They did, however, offer less expensive, off-brand versions. So if you’re interested in saving a few dollars and are not concerned about getting the “real deal” you might find this site the place to go. If, on the other hand, brand matters to you, this isn't the best option for your software download needs. Some of the other sites offer a mixture of the name brand and clones mixed in together. Here you have only the clones.

A Contact Us page offers an email form to submit your question or concern and include your email address for a response. A separate link is provided if you have a problem with a download. We found both methods of support were equally effective, providing next-day responses and easy-to-understand answers to our technical questions.

Upside:

User friendly website, large selection of inexpensive software, friendly customer service.

Downside:

No name-brand software available.

Blueschillies.com is a great site for anything you want to download on your computer. This website offers a large amount of freeware and is updated daily by users. The only thing to remember when using is that this is freeware and there may be some issues when you download certain programs.

BlueChillies.com is far more better then download.com or sofpedia when it comes to finding software without broken links,

you can find eveery kind of software here, may it be msn messenger or any antivirus.

It has a wide range of software, i think all the softwares are there, then theres some wallpaper and fla movies downloads are also available there.

the most amazing thing is that you can also find and download mp3 here, and thats the best reason I use this site.
