The thing that we liked most about CA Anti-Virus 2009 was the virus messages that are supplied whenever the program detected a threat to our computer. These messages provided links that gave us further information about the threat that we encountered and made us feel that we had some control of the situation.

CA Anti-Virus 2009 is the latest entry by CA into the virus protection market. This software was created to provide stable and solid protection from viruses and other related threats to personal computers.

The CA Anti-Virus 2009 Experience:

Our encounter with CA Anti-Virus 2009 was assuring. The software installed on our computer with no problems and did not take too long to complete. Once we had it up and running we found that it did tend to bog our computer down just a bit.

Aside from that, the user interface, while slightly lackluster, was definitely manageable and we appreciated the simplicity that was presented. We were able to perform system scans in short order and had no trouble navigating from section to section.

For the most part, this software is a stable anti-virus program that is able to catch and eliminate most threats without a problem. It did let one threat through, but caught it when we ran a scan of the system.

We do need to mention, however, that advanced users will probably not be as satisfied with this software due to the lack of customization options.

CA Anti-Virus Pricing:

CA Anti-Virus 2009 costs $39.99 for protection on up to 3 PCs for one full year.

CA Customer Service:

CA Anti-Virus 2009 offers various forms of customer support that cover a range of options. The first and most easily accessible are the web based and chat support functions. Both of these functions were able to answer many of the questions that a typical user might encounter and they seemed to be quite effective for most issues.

If on-line support is not an option for you CA does offer telephone support as well. There is one drawback however that makes this option for problem resolution a problem. That problem is cost. So if you plan on calling a tech to help you with your problems be prepared to pay out some money to do so.

Upside:

Easy to use, provides solid protection, helps protect against new viruses.

Downside:

Lacks many extra features.
