If you're a fan of CNN you'll be happy to know that their website can provide you with the latest news and breaking stories as well as entertainment and some recreational reading. The question is, how do they compare to the other news sites on the Web? That's exactly what we were determined to find out when we began the research for our news website reviews. Here's what we discovered...

Our Favorite Feature:

We really liked CNN's video segments. It was just like having access to CNN television right on our computer. From Sarah Palin to Britney Spears, there were videos covering it all.

The CNN.com Experience:

CNN is definitely a household name, so it's no surprise they'd create an online presence for Internet news coverage. The question is, does the CNN website live up to the name's reputation? We think so.

The site was well organized and the news covered all bases. From Sarah Palin to Britney Spears, from McCain/Obama polls to O.J. Simpson being back in court, the CNN website had it all.

Now, all that being said, we did find the CNN website to be a bit depressing. While other news websites seemed to take a well-rounded approach to the news, citing human interest stories in addition to unfortunate tragedies, CNN focused more on the bad than the good.

There are those who joke that the news is always depressing, but there seemed to be some "shock and awe" going on at CNN.com. We were hit with headlines about a mother microwaving her baby, innocent people being killed in Iraq, Dems being in trouble, McCain's ads being nothing more than lies and the destruction of the latest tropical flood. Good news was hard to find.

Of course, you could change that by using the site's iReport feature. Simply report your own story and upload it to the CNN website. It may actually appear on CNN!

CNN.com Customer Service:

CNN offers an extensive FAQ as well as a directory of departments to contact with comments or suggestions. You can try submitting a question to one of these departments, but there's no guarantee you'll get a response. We didn't happen to when we sent in ours.

Upside:

iReport lets you report your own stories, CNN television on the Web, updates on breaking news and live coverage.

Downside:

This site can be a bit depressing.

Isn't Drudgereport the highest trafficked news site? Why isn't this listed. I use that one a lot.

Sometimes it isn't News...

CNN is on my list of sites that I go to everyday to figure out what is going on in the world...or at least the US. But I have to say that more often than not I find that the news that they put on the website isn't actually news that effects a majority of the US...usually it is just small town stories. I enjoy reading those stories as well, but I tend to go to google news if I want serious news stories.
