The Absolute Best, Bar None

Flickr is, quite possibly, the best free photo hosting service that exists. You can rotate, resize, and add notes to images. They offer prints. You can add people to your network, and be able to see when they update their photos.
One of the downsides is that there’s a limited number of photos you can upload and have visible if you’re a free user.
The best part of Flickr, by far, is the ability to tag photos and add them to sets. The tags are, for me, the most useful. If I want to show people all of my craft projects, I can send them to one tag. If they only want to see my quilting projects, I can send them to another tag. I don’t have to mess around with folders and subfolders and the like.
Plus, you can display images on your website no matter how much traffic you get. Flickr doesn’t have a bandwidth policy… yet. Perhaps that will change now that Yahoo owns it. But, until it does, Flickr’s your best bet for photo hosting.

I have never used Flickr personally for my own pictures, but I have several friends who use it all the time and share their accounts with me so that I can see their pictures. I love being able to see my best friend's vacation pics or a family member's prom pictures instantly. The only thing that I do not like is that you can't save any of the pictures for yourself. If you right click on the image and try to save it, it does not work. They have somehow protected the pictures from being copied/saved. I understand this for people you do not know, but there needs to be a way for you to get permission or something to get these pics for yourself. Its a great site for sharing though!

Flickr is a great site, but....
I have been furious with Yahoo ever since Flickr began. Yahoo used to have Yahoo Photos, a free service with your account that you could add photos to as you wished. When Flickr came on the scene, they forced me to switch, and transferred my photos to the new site. Then, after several months of free service and having added all of my photos to it, they suddenly told me, without warning, that not only would the service now cost me $25 a year, but that i...
