We wanted to win some gold, even if only virtually. Well, in reality, we were reviewing some MMORPG services. Our team decided to check out some of the best sites to take part in this growing niche past time. After an afternoon of reviewing the best of the best, we discovered IGE. About IGE:
IGE specializes in selling virtual assets for MMORPGs, including the highly popular World of Warcraft. The company was founded in 2001 by actual players, so finding what you need here should be a breeze. Unlike their competitors, IGE gathers its assets from actual players and from investing time playing the games.
Navigating & Using the IGE Site:
IGE's site is well-laid out. You can click on “Buy” or “Sell” depending on your interest, then you can simply select the game you want if you wish to see your options. The only downside to the site navigation is the excruciatingly slow loading times for the pages. We visited the site multiple times on different days and times, and the pages always took a long time to load. If you're in a hurry to get back to your game playing, you may be frustrated by this characteristic.
IGE Selection & Availability:
Although 16 different MMORPGs are listed on the site, gold and accounts are not available for all of them. For example, service is temporarily unavailable for Guild Wars and no accounts are up for sale from Lord of the Rings Online. Plus, you can only sell currency for only two to three games. Despite these limitations, if you are looking to buy currency you'll find dozens of servers for the top games and gold available in almost any quantity you could want.
Pricing & Payment Options:
The price of the virtual assets you purchase will vary depending on the game and the server you select. However, the example prices below will give you a snapshot of what you can expect at the site:
-
5,000k Gil (Final Fantasy XI) = $282.88
-
2,000 Gold (Word of Warcraft) = $177.80
-
4,000 Gold (Everquest II) = $52.61
IGE accepts Visa and Mastercard payments online, as well as payments through Paypal and Western Union. Money orders can be used for payment, but this method delays the processing of the order.
Customer Support:
IGE provides customer support through FAQs, email, and live chat. The FAQs are fairly comprehensive, although they did not include answers to our questions about the affiliate program and some other issues. However, you're likely to find most of the answers you need in this Help database.
We did send an email to IGE with one of the questions we had that the FAQs didn’t cover. In a few minutes, we received an automated response guaranteeing a 48 hour response. To our surprise, we received our answer just 8 minutes later. Unfortunately, the customer service representative did not understand our question and our answer was completely unrelated to the question we had asked.
Unwilling to give up, we asked the same question through the live chat service. We did connect to a representative quickly, but the person told us to go to another web site for an answer. The rep didn't even explain why we needed to go to a different site. We were disappointed by this response and solidified our opinion that IGE’s customer support could stand to see some improvement.
Upside:
Fast email response. Good selection of virtual assets available. Good prices.
Downside:
Slow page load time. Unsatisfying customer support responses.
Summary:
IGE does provide virtual assets for some of the best multiplayer online games. They have a pretty loyal following, as well. While we did receive a fast email response and we were impressed with the amount of currency options available, the navigation problems on the site and the inability to receive a clear answer to our question through both email and live chat customer support, frustrated us. Since we had to compare multiplayer online games' sites, we had to rank IGE as only slightly better than average among the MMORPG reviews. But, they are popular, so this has to be taken into consideration.
