We love to keep you up-to-date with the latest news and information, especially when it comes to Internet Security Software. After all, your PC has no room for compromise when countless bugs and hackers are running rampant on the Net. We definitely needed to check out Kaspersky's new and improved Internet Security Software 7.0 and wanted to give you first dibs on all important information like features and pricing. Here's what we discovered.

What's New?

Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:

While parental control software is nothing new, the fact that it has been included with the Kaspersky software suite is a huge plus. Now, rather than running two separate programs that might interfere with one another, Kaspersky users get the benefit of parental control features bundled with their security center.

Kaspersky User Interface and Product Application:

The Kaspersky software interface was streamlined and user friendly. Users can see their system status by looking at the color of the logo bar at the top of the Kaspersky control panel. Green, you’re good to go, yellow means you've got some problems and red means you'd better stop what you're doing and figure out just how badly your PC has been compromised. Users can also use the control panel to configure their levels of protection, start a scan, check for updates and review reports.

We were happy to see that this internet security software passed almost every test we threw at it with flying colors, finding all of the Trojans we "planted" in our system. We were surprised; however, that it didn't notify us of the lesser threats, such as the rogue anti-spyware application and the tracking cookies. That's when we realized we had to enable this type of protection by enabling "riskware" removal since Kaspersky doesn't really consider these applications malware.

Our suggestion is this -- if you use Kaspersky make sure you have riskware protection enabled. Even if Kaspersky doesn't think these things pose much threat, you don't need the unnecessary headaches they can cause.

Customer Support:

Kaspersky offers great service. They give customers the option of contacting them through online email support or via phone support. Our call to Kaspersky was answered in less than five minutes (although we did call mid-day, so wait times might be shorter for other customers). When the rep was on the phone, they were friendly and helpful, answering all of our questions without rushing us off the line.

Kaspersky has it together when it comes to email support as well. Our email inquiry was responded to within 24 hours and it wasn't a canned message. It actually addressed the question we had posed and was easy to understand. Their customer support should truly be commended. We would have liked to see a live chat, though, as our team can get impatient at times.

Upside:

Great customer service, free parental controls, real-time scanning.

Downside:

Higher pricing and you can't opt for a single-user license. Must enable ‘riskware’ application yourself to prevent things like tracking cookies and rogue anti-spyware.

Summary:

Overall, we really liked that Kaspersky released the brand new Internet Security Software 7.0. There is comprehensive virus, spyware and malware protection here, as well as a personal firewall. There is real-time scanning and you can also remove malicious changes to your PC. But, pricing is steep here, costing you $79.95 a year for a one-user license agreement. Customer support is great here, with both friendly and efficient representatives.

Safe your system, and make life simple

Before using Kaspersky, I always encountered some virus problems and had to reinstall the system or even format the disk. But after using it for 3 years, I never worry about the virus. It did provide the safe zone for PC. And as the product upgrade, they also provide some function for the Adware or other new kind of worm. It is so amazing that they identify the new virus so quickly and so well.

Works just fine as an Internet Security Suite. Has a great spamfilter so you don't need to be buying second options.
