Lower interest rates, better lender choices and cash-out refinance options are just a few reasons why so many people are applying for mortgage refinance loans online. When the Star Reviews team began comparing today's top mortgage refinance lenders, Lending Tree was a name that came up time and time again. We can see why they’re the talk of the town! Their website was not only painless to browse through, there are countless loan options available. Read about our entire experience below.
What's New?
- Get up to 4 customized refinance offers in just minutes.
- Access to a network of more than 200 mortgage refinance lenders.
- Lending Tree Lender Scorecard allows you to see how other Lending Tree customers have rated the Lenders they worked with.
Star Reviews Favorite Feature:
Although LendingTree is somewhat of a mortgage refinance “referral” service, they are unlike any of the others on the Web. Lending Tree doesn't just sell your information to lenders who call your home over and over again. Lenders are forced to compete for your business online and you can see their Lender Scorecard before you even consider entertaining their offer. You'll know exactly what type of lender you're working with and how other borrowers rate that lender right from the start.
The Lending Tree Experience:
The Lending Tree website, while not as fluid to navigate as some of the other mortgage refinance sites on the Web, is packed with useful tools, tips and information. If you want to refinance your mortgage, your best bet is to click on the “Find a Loan” link when you get to Lending Tree's landing page. Then click the “Refinance a Mortgage” option and you'll be taken to Lending Tree's interactive quote request form.
Now, let us warn you, the form is a bit in-depth. You'll be asked for personal information as well as information about the property you are refinancing and your existing mortgage terms. And yes, you will need to provide your social security number. However, no one will approve you for a mortgage refinance loan without one. Once you've provided Lending Tree with all of the required information, you'll receive online quotes from up to four different lenders.
Star Reviews suggests reading each lender's Lender Scorecard in addition to reviewing the terms of their offers. These scorecards let you get the dirt on each lender, detailing the experiences other borrowers have had with them. If a lender doesn't treat their customers right, these scorecards will let you know about it. Lending Tree is the only mortgage refinance site that offers this tool. If you're going to use Lending Tree for your mortgage refinance needs, don't overlook this advantage.
Lending Tree Features:
- Get up to 4 mortgage refinance offers online
- Access to a database of more than 200 lenders
- Review each lender's Lender Scorecard
- Live customer support
Lending Tree Customer Support:
The Star team was really impressed with Lending Tree's customer service. You can contact Lending Tree via phone, email or live chat. When we decided to speak with a live chat rep we were connected in less than two minutes and the rep we spoke with was able to answer all of our questions quickly and knowledgeably.
Phone and email support also provided us with informative answers to our mortgage refinance questions. However, it's important to note that Lending Tree can only offer customer service in regards to its own website. Loan-specific customer service varies from one lender to the next, which is why Lending Tree's Lender Scorecards are such a valuable tool.
Upside:
Compare up to 4 offers in just a few minutes, helpful LendingTree Scorecards, lenders compete online.
Downside:
Application requests in-depth personal info and lenders may require you to fill out another app prior to funding your loan.
Summary:
We were excited to browse the Lending Tree website and are glad we did, because they provide some great mortgage refinance loan options among their financial database. Though they are essentially a referral service, they don't simply hand your case over to just anyone. Lending Tree is known for giving you up to four customized refinance offers in a matter of minutes and giving you a 'Lender's Scorecard,' so you can find a loan lender that is perfect for you. There is a database of more than 200 lenders, so finding a match shouldn't prove to be too difficult. The application on this site wasn't the easiest to fill out (think in-depth). But, customer support is great, though loan-specific questions should be forwarded to your lender. We recommend their website completely.
