One of our team members grew tired of playing the same MMORPG all the time and desperately wanted something fresh! He decided to make a tidy little profit off his efforts by selling his account, and we decided to evaluate his choice: Massive Online Gaming Sales aka MOGS. We liked their simple site setup, but what else did we dig up in our research? Continue on for the full scoop.

About MOGS:
MOGS is a web site specializing in the trade of virtual assets for popular MMORPGs, including World of Warcraft and Star Wars Galaxies. The site launched in 2004 and now purchases both currency and accounts. They also sell these items and will provide powerleveling services for some games.
Navigating & Using the MOGS Site:
The MOGS site has the basic navigational functions you look for in sites of their kind. On the left side of the home page, you'll find a list of available games and you'll find tabs and links at the top and near the bottom of the page to help direct you. The site suffers, however, by being bogged down in too much copy. Long text sections make the site a bit difficult to sift through. Plus, using the “Games” pull-down menu only takes you to a site map list of the games offered, not directly to the game you want.
MOGS Selection & Availability:
Compared to many virtual asset trading sites, MOGS' selection is a bit disappointing. Accounts and powerleveling are available for only a small percentage of the games on the site. Currency is available for most games, although it is out of stock in all of its denominations for a couple of games, including Guild Wars. However, the purchase amount choices are more limited than at other sites.
Pricing & Payment Options:
The prices for these virtual assets do vary greatly from game to game and even from server to server. Below are a couple of pricing examples. In general, MOGS' prices are lower than some of the competition's.
-
6,000k Gil (Final Fantasy XI) = $289.99
-
2,000 Gold (Word of Warcraft) = $129.77
MOGS accepts major credit cards, as well as Paypal.
Customer Support:
MOGS offers customer support through a contact form, live chat, and FAQs. The FAQs link is hidden in the lower corner of the page and we almost missed it on the first review of the site actually. Only about a half dozen questions are answered on the page so chances are good you'll need to resort to one of the other methods.
Unfortunately, the other methods are disappointing. We used the contact form to send an email to customer support. Nearly six days later, we hadn't received anything from them – not even an automated response.
We decided to give the live chat a try. We entered our question and name, then received an email warning us that they may not have anyone available to assist us and that they have been encountering technical difficulties. Less than two minutes later, we received a message letting us know all of their staff was busy and asking us to send an email instead. Obviously, MOGS does not excel at customer service.
Upside:
Lower prices on currency.
Downside:
Bad customer service. Limited selection.
Summary:
As we completed more MMORPG reviews, we realized that MOGS was fairly disappointing. On the plus side, a good number of games are supported by the site but the selection of currency, accounts, and powerleveling for those games tends to be limited. The biggest drawback is the customer support. With only a small number of FAQs, a lack of email response, and a non-functioning or too busy live chat service, MOGS can't compete with the competition. Overall, you're better off going elsewhere for your virtual asset or gaming needs.
