Our Favorite Feature:

Our favorite feature of Mail.com had to be the variety of email addresses to choose from. Your email addy doesn't have to be name@mail.com when you use this free email service. You can choose from 250 other email domains including @cheerful.com, @mindless.com, @myself.com and others.

The Mail.com Experience:

Signing up for Mail.com is easy and there are 250 different email address formats to choose from. Most email services offer one – maybe two or three at the most. The entire sign-up process, start to finish, takes just a couple of minutes and once you're set up you can access Mail.com's email tools and other Mail.com features.

We found Mail.com email to be very easy to use, but the fact that they only offer 3GB of storage did concern us a little. Many of the free email services we reviewed offered three times as much. If you frequently receive large attachments and tend to store them in your email storage for any period of time, that 3GB can really disappear fast.

The email editor offered by Mail.com is a plain text editor, so don't expect to create any fancy emails using this service. That being said, however, they do provide a spell check feature, so even if your emails don't look fabulous, the content will be properly spelled.

While Mail.com may not offer all of the bells and whistles provided by some of the other email services, they definitely do a good job of providing the basics and the interface is very easy to use.

Mail.com Pricing:

The basic Mail.com email service is free to use and includes 3GB of email storage and is ad supported. If, however, you need more email storage or you prefer your emails to be ad-free, then a premium upgrade is available for $3.99 per month or $29.99 per year.

Mail.com Customer Service:

When it comes to customer support, Mail.com really does outshine the competition. Free email services seem to have an aversion to customer service. Mail.com defies this trend by offering free email support for all Mail.com accounts.

Surprisingly, we got a reply to our inquiry the very next business day, beating out all of the other free email services we tested. While we'd love to see a site offering phone support or even live chat, next-day email support is definitely better than what we've seen with the other free email providers.

Upside:

Free email support, 250 email address formats to choose from, user-friendly interface.

Downside:

Less storage than many of the other free email websites.

Mail.com doesn’t have the most space. It doesn’t have the most options. It doesn’t even have the prettiest interface.

What Mail.com does have – and the reason why most of my email accounts are there – is an amazing number of email address formats. I’m not kidding. You get something like 250 @________.___ to choose from.

Seriously, if you’re like me and like your email addresses to be funny, Mail.com is the way to go. There are zillions of puns you can make with their various formats that will make anyone who has to email you grin. There are descriptors, like your religion or hometown or job that you can use to identify various accounts. Does Joe Schmoe have one email for tech support and one for his personal emails? No problem! He can get j.schmoe@myself.com and j.schmoe@techie.com to differentiate between the two.

I love this site.
