I had been a loyal norton customer since 2005 until recently. The reson I have finally had enough is the recent disappointment in the programming by norton. My wife`s new computer contracted the "personal antivirus" virus when she clicked on a link with the green norton checkmark on it, which is supposed to mean that norton has checked the link. Anyway, I called norton about the recent infection because the program did not detect the threat even though it had hijacked her settings and was redirecting IE. They procceeded to tell me that inorder to remove it I would have to pay them $99 and they could do it. So I asked them why I should pay them to remove something that another program (freeware btw) named malwarebytes could do it. And if norton had all of the file names, proccess names and registry keys on file for said virus along with the fact that they told me the name of the trojan which usually used to infect your computer with the virus, why it was not blocked or at least quaranteened when it was contracted. They told me that "it is a very good virus program". I feel as though this is rediculous, they know all about the program and how to remove it but the norton product will not block, quaranteen, remove or even detect the threat. And beond that they want to charge for manual removal. Waring, this product is far inferior to others in its class, even freeware programs.

This is a terrible product that spends an amazing amount of time on strands that cause no problem. The ball was definitely dropped by Norton on this one.

The Norton scanning engine is one of the most complete on the market, but suffers from issues with system resource usage and overzealous integration with your computer that can cause freezing or simple hanging application.
