Box.net is an excellent site for online storage, particularly for small and large business owners. While we weren’t too sure about the security of the e-mail upload feature, we did find the website upload process to be standard and convenient. - Free 14-day trial.
- Online file sharing.
- Mobile phone access.
Box.net advertises that no software is needed to use their services, but we felt this was a bit of a disadvantage, as software could ensure that files are properly encrypted prior to leaving the computer when uploading. Of course, you could encrypt your files yourself prior to upload if you want. All-in-all, we really liked Box.net’s unique features. The mobile feature definitely separates them from competition. For a generation on the go, being able to manage your hard drive from anywhere via a cell phone is huge. Additionally, the online collaboration tools are a really neat feature for business owners, as it allows the feel of networking, at a fraction of the cost. We also have to say that Box.net's customer service couldn’t have been better. The rep we spoke with was friendly and knowledgeable, although the speed of the connection via live chat is what really impressed us. Overall, we found Box to be an excellent online data storage solution for individuals looking to back up or simply store their files off site. It's a must see for those looking to do so with unique high-tech features and top-notch support. They earn 5.5 Stars!

FileDen.com gets a fair score in our opinion. While we found that the website offered quite a bit of features for the prices charged, we felt that the site itself could have been a bit more user-friendly. Our only other issue with FileDen was the lack of live customer service. All that aside, however, FileDen still managed to win us over with its quality data backup services. - Free 1 GB account.
- Zipping, sharing, and renaming capability via the web.
- Access files securely anywhere in the world.
The FileDen product itself is truly awesome. We really liked the fact that we could use the service without downloading any software. If you need to access, edit and upload your files from multiple locations this will prove to be a valuable feature – especially if you use public computers. All-in-all, we found that FileDen.com is an exceptional pick for remote hard drive storage and management. We give them 5.0 Stars!

While we were a bit turned off by the lack of customer service and support, we did find Omnidrive.com to be an overall excellent choice for online data storage. Omnidrive does not really provide any features that separate them from the competition (aside from the slightly advanced editing features), however they do seem to combine all features of the competition. We liked this, as it essentially gives the feel of an all-in-one atmosphere. - User-friendly ‘drag and drop’ software.
- No file size limits.
- Secure 128-bit SSL encryption.
The document editing features offered by Omnidrive really allow you to maximize your use of the online storage. While everything can be done via the web, you also are given the option of transferring and sharing files as well. At the top of this list, however, is the ability to work on various platforms for files, thus enabling users the ability to make the most from the service. Omnidrive’s products are very straight forward, and aren’t the slightest bit confusing. With only four simple products to choose from, you don’t have to worry about choosing the wrong one. What really turned us off at the end of our review, however, was when we attempted to sign up and were told that Omnidrive was ‘full’. At this point, we weren’t really sure how to proceed, as that does make it a bit hard to participate in the service. Omnidrive would’ve been a stellar choice for your online storage needs – that is if they had enough space to do so! They earn 5.0 Stars!

Xdrive.com would’ve certainly been a perfect score from our team with even the slightest bit of customer service. While the site’s navigation, product, and pricing leaves no room for competitors, our review team is curious as to what we should do when a question arises prior to product purchase. This is a significant limitation to their perfect product, as customers might choose to go elsewhere if they can’t find an immediate answer to their question. - Variety software management packages available.
- Automatic scheduled back-ups.
- ‘Skip-the-Download’ feature.
The software downloads for Xdrive are exceptional. Smaller downloads are available to you if you don’t want to clutter your storage space with another program – after all the idea here is to open up space! We can’t stress enough how much we liked the fact that files were encrypted prior to even leaving our computers. Further, the automatic back up feature is a time saver that is probably one of the best highlights of the product. Xdrive.com’s customer service might have been lacking, but their Frequently Asked Questions page is very thorough, and will probably answer all of your questions with more time and effort required than sending an e-mail or picking the phone up. That said, this portion of the site somewhat makes up for the absence of a live person to talk to. Xdrive is definitely one of our top choices for online data storage – just make sure you sign up for a free AOL account prior to exploring the website, if you want to use the free trial! Xdrive earns 4.5 Stars!
