Ouch! Star Reviews needs to warn you: If you cancel within of year, the VOIP provider will hit you with a $59.99 disconnection fee and $199 if you ordered the Videophone service. Also, note there is a $9.99 activation fee on all add-ons.

Reasons to choose Packet8

Find me, Follow me: Enter up to 5 numbers to ring in sequence. For example: you can enter your mobile phone number as well as your office phone number to ring when your Packet8 home number is not answered.

Voicemail to E-mail notification: Even they are not the only VOIP provider offering this feature, StarReviews like this innovation so much, we feel it is worth mentioning it every occasion.
Network Available Forwarding: You won’t lose any customers if your connection goes down, as they can be forwarded to a pre-programmed number such as your cell phone.
Anonymous Call-Blocking: No more telemarketing firm calling you while you are eating. Activate the option, and the anonymous caller will receive a busy signal. How many times you think they will try calling before getting the message?

Customer Support

Star Reviews tested the Voice over IP’s phone support, and waited about 5 minutes on hold before being answered. The representative proved helpful and knowledgeable. The website is another story. Star Reviews had to browse almost endlessly to find the basic service plans information. Their CEO comments on the VOIP industry through a blog, accessible from the website. Visitors are not allowed to leave comments on his posts. In what appear as an industry trend, our e-mail sent to support went unanswered after 48 hours.

Star Reviews was able to order the VOIP phone service through the website, and worked the first time we hooked it up. In the end, there’s nothing like living in a futurist world (or at least pretending to). By offering Videophone to their customers, Packet8 makes the future an affordable commodity, and one we should profit from.

Upsides: Videophone technology – Enhanced 911 Dialing – Cool Amazon referral system.

Downsides: Costly disconnect fees – unintuitive website – confusing Office plan.

We didn't even get the service hooked up. The billing was all messed up, we are in week 4 and still fighting for our money back was told it could take 47 days to get bk, equipement is not what was quoted. Its a big run around when you call in for help
