star rating

Priceline star ratings appear in some circumstances misleading at best. A bid for a hotel at a low price is likely to result in a booking to an undesirable property. "Undesirable" means a property that Priceline customers believe is a poor value or an incorrectly rated hotel. Priceline could review properties with a low overall rating given their "star" value to determine whether they are in need of scrutiny. I got burned really badly on this, so unless you are sure that all properties with the desired stars are acceptable, you should stay away from "naming your own price" on Priceline as what they are selling may not be what you thought you were buying.
Priceline No Fee Cancellation Policy Unreasonable

Priceline charged a full night's stay as a penalty when a medical issue required a hotel reservation cancellation. The cancellation request took place MORE than 74 hours before the reservation date and time. This is highly unreasonable considering their advertized no cancellation fee policy. In light of the current economic situation, I would think keeping a customer would have some value to any company. A little compassion for a customer with a family emergency is the least I would expect. The company has no sense of ethical responsibility and most certainly no heart.

Priceline is a rip off. They charged me $19 cancellation fee because their website was confusing. I asked for a minivan and somehow after I confirmed, I got a compact car. I tried to negotiate saying that, on principal, they should waive the $19 but they won't budge. As a result, I am writing this and would NEVER recommend priceline to anyone!
DON'T USE PRICELINE.COM EVER, PLEASE save the hassle and your money and time and frustation. It's a scam.
