Our team knows what it’s like to deal with endless piles of paperwork and balanced checkbooks, all while keeping business running as usual. That's exactly why QuickBooks' online bill paying service caught our attention. While you do need QuickBooks’ software installed on your computer to use their service, the service itself does not require any additional software. That's already a plus in our books, but we found plenty more to like about this online bill paying service. See what Star Reviews discovered below.

About QuickBooks Online Bill Pay:
You probably already know that the QuickBooks software is one of the leading accounting programs for small businesses. Created by Intuit – the minds behind Quicken as well, QuickBooks is aimed for business-focused users instead of general consumers. For these business users, the online bill pay service is available. However, the service is managed by CheckFree.com and not by QuickBooks or Intuit.
Navigating the QuickBooks Online Bill Pay Site:
Trying to find information about QuickBooks' online bill paying service is not easy. We couldn't find any information about it just by browsing through the product information, so we did a search and reached a page for the service. However, that page was not fully functioning. You couldn't click on most of the links, including the “See it in Action” link. The difficult navigation would make it hard to sign up for the service.
Using QuickBooks Online Bill Pay:
Considering how complicated using QuickBooks can be for novice users, it's a great thing that the service is handled by CheckFree.com instead. They provide a very intuitive and streamlined bill paying system. After you enter information about your billers, your e-bills are automatically retrieved whenever you sign in and you can pay them with a single click. Easy to read reports are available for up to 6 months so you'll be able to check back easily if you're not sure if or when you made a payment.
Quickbooks Pricing:
- $15.95 per month
- Includes 20 payments per month
- $6.95 per 10 additional payments
Customer Support:
When we contacted QuickBooks directly about their online bill paying service, we were surprised because some of their customer service representatives did not know the service was available. Part of the confusion is because customer support for online bill pay goes directly through CheckFree’s service department.
Unlike MyCheckFree.com which had disappointing customer service, CheckFree Web (aimed at small businesses, not individuals) was much better. By phone, our call was answered after a short wait and we receive a prompt, courteous answer. Our email was answered within 24 hours, and the response clearly addressed our question for us.
Additionally, QuickBooks has a few FAQ’s on their site which answer the most common questions you’ll probably have about the service.
Upside:
Customer service was good. The online bill paying service was easy to use.
Downside:
Cost is a bit high, especially if you need to make more than 20 payments.
Summary:
If you’re a small business owner, QuickBooks online bill paying service is really made for you. The service is easy to master for users already comfortable with QuickBooks, but can take some getting used to for everyone else. Paying too many bills through the service can become expensive, but you do have the ability to pay anyone in the United States. We definitely couldn't complain about the customer service either. Overall, QuickBooks offers enough features and service to make it a good choice for small business owners as long as the price fits your budget.
