Our Favorite Simply Audio Books Feature:

What we liked the most about SimplyAudioBooks was the rental program they offer their customers. Customers can put as many audio books in their wish list. As soon as they finish the book they are on, they mail it back and the company automatically sends the next book on the list. It's very similar to how the DVD rental websites work, but you're dealing with audio books instead of DVDs. This is definitely a great choice for those already familiar with online rental services.

The SimplyAudioBooks.com Experience:

SimplyAudioBooks.com first launched in 2003, and is said to be "The Netflix of Audio books" by the Boston Globe. The site separates itself from the competition by offering its customers the option to either rent audio book CD’s, download the audio book directly from their website, or purchase audio book CD’s or Cassettes to keep.

We were told that SimplyAudioBooks.com recently changed the look of its website to make the pages cleaner, clearer, and easier to read. Because the pages have fewer images, they also load faster too. We didn't see the site prior to its makeover, but we did notice the site was very easy to navigate and page loads took no time at all.

SimplyAudioBooks.com offers both a rental program and a download club. With the rental program you build the list of books you want to rent, receive one at a time via the mail and then return them when done. Whenever the company receives a returned book, they mail the next one out to you. With the download club, you can select from one to three downloads per month, download them right away and keep them forever.

If you are interested in the rental plan rather than the download club, SimplyAudioBooks is currently offering a free 2-week trial on the 2-out-at-a-time program. It's a great way to see if the program works for you before pitching in your own hard-earned money.

SimplyAudioBooks.com Customer Service:

SimplyAudioBooks.com has an extensive and easy to use FAQ section. We really felt those pages answered almost any question a customer would run into. If, however, you have a question that isn't covered you can contact the company via live phone support or email. Email support was a bit lax, taking two days to get back to us. Phone support, however, was faster to respond. We were connected to a live rep in less than four minutes and we received in-depth and knowledgeable answers to the questions we asked.

Upside:

Variety of plans to choose from, competitive pricing, great selection.

Downside:

Book credits expire if not used after 60 days.
