Spyware Doctor is a necessity

I use the free version of Spyware Doctor that is offered with the Google Pack of software. I can’t imagine life without Spyware Doctor. Every day it runs an automatic scan, and it finds everything that could ever possibly even consider harming my computer. It finds things that other software just doesn’t seem to find, and it updates regularly to insure that this will be the case. It has managed to remove spyware that other programs haven’t even managed to find. Since downloading Spyware Doctor, I have not run into a single spyware problem – and I’m using the free version! OnGuard protection is only offered with the paid version, so Spyware Doctor only finds threats when I run a scan, instead of detecting them as they appear. If I had the money, I would definitely pay up for the paid version of this software, since it has more than proven itself in the line of duty.

User Interface and Product Application

Spyware Doctor’s anti-spyware software user interface is straight-forward, as the welcome screen features all the basic choices. You can run a full scan or examine the results of your last inspection.

We particularly like viewing the date of our latest definition file update, as this signal if our application is updated.

We think the immunization window is a little too technical for the average user, as you have to answer a few questions about your immunization settings. This is a problem for the beginner user not familiar with this type of software.

The scan did an effective job at removing the spyware on our computer except for the pesky spyaxe program. Spyaxe is a rogue anti-spyware that ironically gets downloaded on your machine using the ‘drive-by download’ method.

Even with a price higher than its competitors, we found the range and quality of features offered by the spyware cleaner impressive. The automatic update engine is solid, although the user interface needs simplification for the beginner.
