After all of the MMORPG reviews our team completed, one of our members decided to jump into the World of Warcraft universe. About SwagVault:
SwagVault specializes in selling virtual assets for MMORPGs, such as Star Wars Galaxies. They mostly sell currency and powerleveling for a number of games. Like many of the third party virtual asset sites, SwagVault is not affiliated with any game developers or companies.
Navigating & Using the SwagVault Site:
SwagVault's site is straightforward in most ways. You can either choose a game from the left hand side of the home page, or you can pick one of the tabs near the top of the page to guide you through the site. After you select a game and a server, you'll be presented with a list of what's available. Just click “Buy Now” to add the item to your shopping cart. While the navigation is easy, one problem is the non-functioning “Item” tab. This didn't impress us too much.
SwagVault Selection & Availability:
SwagVault has an impressive selection of games and products available. Although the number of games at the site is not greater than some of the competition, the amount of currency and powerleveling available makes the site worth a visit. For example, the site was one of the few which had gold for Guild Wars in stock and ready for purchase in multiple denominations.
Pricing & Payment Options:
Depending on the game and the server, you can expect some differences in virtual asset prices. However, the examples below give you an idea of the pricing. For some games, the prices are lower. For others, the prices are higher.
-
5 million Gil (Final Fantasy XI) = $218.21
-
2,000 Gold (Word of Warcraft) = $157.98
SwagVault accepts major credit cards through Paypal and Google Checkout.
Customer Support:
SwagVault provides customer service through a FAQs page, by phone, by email, and by live chat. The site's FAQs page is fairly extensive. Most of the common questions are addressed. Plus, the affiliate program has its own FAQ page.
The phone number for support is long-distance, so we were glad we didn't have to hold too long. Our representative was helpful. The question was answered quickly, and we were off the phone pretty fast. Unfortunately, our other experiences with customer support were more disappointing.
The live chat, for example, was not available and there was no notice of how long it wouldn't be working. We also sent an email to the site and three days later, the only response we had received was an automated message. This didn't leave us with a great impression of SwagVault's customer support options.
Upside:
Good selection. Good pricing.
Downside:
Live chat down. No email response. Some tabs don't work.
Summary:
If you compare multiplayer online games' sites, you learn the biggest differences are in selection and customer service. Like top MMORPG sites, SwagVault does offer virtual assets, such as currency and powerleveling, for a good amount of games. Unlike the competition, SwagVault does not provide the fast and friendly customer support we have come to expect. The bottom line is that unless you need currency for a game only offered at SwagVault's site you might want to consider other third party sites first.
