The problem with online ticket sales is that anyone can throw up a website and claim to have tickets for sale. Who can you really trust? Star Reviews decided to compare online ticket websites. Ticketmaster is one of the top names in online tickets and we couldn't pass up an opportunity to play on their site. See what we ran into below.
What's New?
- You can now use Ticketmaster to sell tickets you don't need.
- Gift cards are now available.
- American Express cardholders can get exclusive offers and savings.
Star Reviews' Favorite Feature:
Many other ticket websites only offer the seat numbers of the tickets being offered for sale. Ticketmaster, however, also has seating charts available for most major venues, allowing you to see exactly where your seats would be before requiring a purchase commitment.
About Ticketmaster:
For more than 30 years, Ticketmaster has been providing the public with concert ticket sales. Ticketmaster is the company's online ticket outlet. In addition to selling client tickets directly to the public, the Ticketmaster website also offers an online marketplace called Ticket Exchange. Ticket Exchange allows people to sell tickets they no longer want or need via the Ticketmaster website.
Selection:
Ticketmaster offers a variety of online ticket sales including tickets to sporting events, concerts and live shows. Ticketmaster also offers tickets to the hottest “reality show” events such as the American Idols Live tour and the Dancing with the Stars tour.
Charges:
Ticketmaster does charge processing and convenience fees for each ticket purchased. The exact cost of these fees will vary depending on the venue and type of event the ticket is being purchased for. It is important to note that fees for tickets purchased through Ticketmaster can sometimes be as high as 50 percent of the face value of the ticket, so a ticket with a face value of $30 may actually cost $45 once fees have been applied by Ticketmaster.
Selling Your Tickets:
The Ticketmaster website offers Ticket Exchange, an online ticket marketplace that allows sellers to place their event tickets up for sale. There is no charge when a seller places his or her tickets up for sale using the Ticket Exchange marketplace, but if the tickets do sell, Ticketmaster will charge a fee. The exact amount of the fee ranges depending on the ticket being offered for sale and sellers are notified of the exact cost during the listing process.
Return Policy:
Ticketmaster has a no return/no refund policy. If you no longer need the tickets you purchased via the Ticketmaster website, you can place the tickets up for sale on the Ticket Exchange.
If an event that you have purchased tickets for is canceled, you can obtain a refund for the purchase price of the tickets, but the delivery charges and processing charges are not refundable.
Customer Support:
Ticketmaster offers customer support via phone and an extensive online help database. When we phoned Ticketmaster customer service, our call was answered promptly and we were able to speak with a knowledgeable and helpful representative who answered our questions to our satisfaction. The extensive online FAQ also proved to be of great value in understanding the Ticketmaster services, policies and rules.
Upside:
Tickets to the hottest events at reasonable prices, a marketplace for selling unwanted tickets, knowledgeable and helpful customer service reps.
Downside:
Processing and convenience charges tend to be quite high. No refund on processing or convenience charges in light of an event cancellation.
