The fact that Trend Micro includes advanced parental control tools really impressed us. While most Internet security suites offer bare bones essentials in regards to parental control, Trend Micro features advanced functionality. The Trend Micro Internet Security Experience:

Trend Micro's Internet Security 2009 was honestly one of the easiest programs to use. Download and installation took very little time at all and the process was very intuitive.

Once we had the program up and running the user-friendly interface made it very easy to navigate the software's tools and features. Those who are familiar with last year's version of the software will notice the interface has been streamlined a bit, improving the look and feel of it.

We didn't really experience any system lag when operating the program, although the scan time for Trend Micro wasn't exactly the best. We did like the fact that Trend Micro's firewall didn't interfere with any of the programs we tried operating. Many of the Internet security suites we tested caused problems when running specific software products. Trend Micro did not pose a problem.

The integrated parental controls were also quite impressive, allowing us to not only control which sites children can visit, but how long they stay on the computer as well. Password protection of the settings adds to the security, making this one of the most comprehensive Internet security products on the market.

Trend Micro Internet Security is $49.95 for one year or $84.90 for two.

Trend Micro has always offered great customer service and they continue with this tradition into 2009. Customers can receive help from both an online knowledge base and ticket submission system. Live chat and phone support are also available, connecting you to knowledgeable reps with minimal wait times. If you demand great customer service and product support from the companies you do business with, Trend Micro is going to be one of your best bets.

Upside:

No system drag, affordable pricing, great customer service.

Downside:

Scan wasn't the fastest.
