Unlimited Game Rental Service For Pennies a Day?

Just a decade ago renting a game meant heading over to your local video rental store, browsing through a meager rental selection and shelling over $5 to $10 for the rental of your choice. Back then, if someone would have told you that you could rent unlimited games each month for less than $30, you'd have laughed in their face. Unlimited game rentals at an affordable monthly fee is no longer just a gamer fantasy. Thanks to the Internet, it's now a reality.

The Concept

For a set monthly fee (usually less than $30) you can rent an unlimited number of video games each month via the Internet. The games are mailed to you, you play them, finish them, send them back and the next games are sent out. It's like having an endless personal library of video games stored in a warehouse somewhere, and your own staff mailing them to you one, two or three at a time.

The Contenders

According to comparison and review websites like StarReviews.com, the leading name in the game rental service industry is GameFly.com. The company has experienced phenomenal growth, opening up a new facility in Austin, Texas earlier this year.

The prices, selection and service level of this contender seem to be unparalleled. For just $22.95 per month (about 75 cents per day) you can rent an unlimited number of games (2 at a time).

Other names, such as GottaPlay and GamezNFlix do offer game rental services, but they don't seem to provide the value that GameFly offers.

The only question is, will GameFly.com remain the industry's leading contender, or will other companies rise to the challenge trying to knock GameFly.com from the top position?
