When the time comes to start thinking about having a baby, women want to know what they are in for and what to expect. In the past they have looked to family members, friends and the local bookstore for expert advice. Today, they have the Internet and its wealth of baby planning websites at their fingertips. The Star reviews team wanted to find the best baby planning sites on the Web for our baby planning website reviews. VeryBestBaby was one of the sites we came across. How did they do when compared to the others? Here's what we found out...

Our Favorite VeryBestBaby Feature:

Hands down, the audio/video library is the best thing about this site. It contains podcasts and videos on topics of interest to new moms. Unfortunately, you do have to register and supply your email address to access these resources. When doing so you give them permission to send you offers and emails. There is no way to opt out of it.

The VeryBestBaby Experience:

VeryBestBaby.com was created by Nestle, a manufacturer of baby formula. Needless to say, some of the site is going to be angled to sell their products.

The site itself is an uncomplicated, straight forward site that offers articles of interest to moms and moms-to-be, much of it relating to nutrition. The home page provides links to several areas including Pregnancy, My Baby, My Family and Home, Nutrition and Feeding and detailed information on Nestle Good Start Formula.

We did like the fact that the site offers quite a bit of information on what you should eat while you're pregnant, including recipes for each trimester that meet the nutritional requirements for that particular period of fetal development. You can also learn about food cravings and what they might mean. This was definitely a unique aspect that many of the other baby planning websites didn't offer.

VeryBestBaby also offers articles with information on preparing birth and moves on to offer professional advice for caring for your baby. The section on feeding is extensive and will help you decide whether to breast feed or bottle feed, or both. Advice of postpartum nutrition is also provided, including information for vegetarians.

Even though the site is run by Nestle, they did offer quite a bit of information on breastfeeding. That being said, many of the breastfeeding pages led on to bottle feeding information, which, of course, promotes the formula the company makes.

Lots of articles on nutrition for mom and baby including recipes, nutritional information for each trimester and support for a vegetarian diet.
Baby nutrition and advice.
Coupons and personalized booklets by email.

VeryBestBaby Pricing:

Membership to this website is free. Although it is a site created by the baby formula manufacturer Nestle, the advertising is not overbearing. Just be ready for some advertisements in your email box if you register.

VeryBestBaby Customer Service:

An FAQ section provides answers to most questions a user might have. An email form is also provided for any question that is not answered in the FAQ. Email support was more than helpful, getting back to us the same day our request was sent in.

Upside:

Simple, easy to navigate site, great nutritional support, extensive audio/video library.

Downside:

While it has much to offer on nutrition, it is very limited in scope. The audio/video section would be great but requires agreeing to receiving emails and promotional materials.

Verbestbaby is a great website for new moms! They have a lot of information on developmental milestones, parenting tips, and nutrition. They also send out coupons every month worth several dollars each. It is a nice bonus if you are formula feeding your child and use the Nestle brand of formula!
