Apply For American Income Life

When dealing with supplement insurance you want to buy your policy from a company that really cares about its customers. All companies claim to, but we wanted to find the ones that really do. As soon as we heard the American Income Life Insurance Company was “Protecting working families,” we knew we wanted to learn more about what they had to offer. After all, there's not many companies looking out for the "little guy" anymore. Wondering if they're true to their word? Here's what we found out...

What's New with American Income Life Insurance Company?

  • Free "Child Safe Kit" to protect your family.
  • Strike and lay-off premium waivers provided for businesses.
  • No-cost terminal illness rider.
Star Reviews' Favorite American Income Feature:

Our favorite feature of the American Income Life website was the NO COST section, which offers useful resources to families and individuals for free. Examples of NO COST products include a Child Safe Kit, which lists information about your child in the case of a disappearance, and a Partners Discount program, which gives you 10-60% discounts on health-related services such as eye care, hearing, and chiropractic appointments.

The American Income Life Insurance Experience:

The American Income Life Insurance website opens with a colorful banner depicting joyful professionals, children, and families, which we thought was a great way to introduce the site's features. The homepage is neat and tidy, giving users clear guidance as to where policy information is located.

We were pleased by American Income Life Insurance’s array of coverage offerings, which include life, accident and hospital, and terminal illness plans – just to name a few. AIL's services are designed for working families and are available through labor unions, credit unions, associations, fraternal organizations, sporting groups, licensed professionals and non-profit organizations.

Another great thing about the AIL website is its collection of no cost resources including social security benefits updates, family information guides and a partners discount program.

Unfortunately, like some of the other supplemental insurance websites we visited, AIL does not offer online quotes or purchases. You have to contact an agent to get signed up with their services. Overall, however, American Income Life is definitely a good company for your supplemental insurance needs.

American Income Life Insurance Pricing:

Comparing pricing for standard supplemental insurance is hard because the plans and types of coverage vary from one company to the next. Instead, to get an idea of how competitive a company is in pricing, we decided to get rates based on a standard criteria of a $600,000, 20-year life insurance policy using the same information on each of the supplemental insurance websites we provided. This way we can see how the companies compare in price to one another using an "apples to apples" approach. This is the cost comparison breakdown:

Colonial Life

Aflac

Mutual of Omaha

American Income Life Insurance

MetLife

$258/year
$22.58/month

$266/yr
$23.28/month

$230/year

$21.30/month

$260/year
$22.75/month

$272/year

$24.28/month

American Income Life Insurance Customer Service:

The American Income Life Insurance website includes a comprehensive support section that offers policyholder services and claims help as well as a family information guides. The website also provides the option of contacting customer support via an e-mail form or a toll-free phone number, which is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 11:45 AM and 12:45 PM to 4:30 PM Central Standard Time.

If we're going to be honest, we have to say that we found email support to be seriously lacking. We didn't receive a response to our inquiry until 3 business days after we submitted it, and the response didn't answer our question in the least. Fortunately, phone support was much better at helping us out (although we also experienced a substantial hold time in this area of the customer service department as well). We have to recommend that American Income Life Insurance work on improving their service and support if they want to stand out among the competition.

Upside:

Variety of NO COST products to choose from, online policyholder and claims services.

Downside:

Poor customer service.

American Income has been dedicated to the provision of supplemental life insurance policies to working families across America. Primarily, they operate through organizations such as trade unions, associations, and labor unions.

The American Income service range is an extensive one offering organizations and unions access to some of the best whole and term life insurance. Cancer protection and accident protection can also be provided ensuring that all eventualities can be covered for working members, and their families.

When it comes to negotiating the best possible insurance deals, a lot of the onus is placed on the sheer amount of bargaining power that a company has. American Income is able to boast an incredible $15 billion of life insurance in force making it one of the most powerful negotiators in supplemental insurance coverage.

Its a good service. I give it five stars rating.
