BitDefender Antivirus '10
Wow, talk about simplifying a product. BitDefender Antivirus
2010 has made this the most "comfortable" looking product for the average
computer user an option. Couple that with the an already top of the
line security product, and BitDefender may have released their
best product ever. All of the functionality is there as it has been in
the past, but this is a nice simple looking product. Of course, we
need to take if for a test drive. - New Active Virus Control

Customer service for this product is better than most. All the questions that we had were answered in timely and in polite manners. Create an account during the installation process and you have phone and live chat support.
BitDefender Antivirus 2010 is a wonderful product and even better for the average or even novice user while providing excellent protection. Norton Antivirus 2010
Norton AntiVirus 2010 has improved by leaps and bounds in regards to the options and functionality of their software. We really did appreciate the smaller program size and the increase in the number of features presented. We also were impressed with the ability of this program to catch and eliminate a large variety of computer threats. On the down side we tend to think that the user interface of this antivirus software, while familiar and easy to use could use a new look to go along with the improved software.

As far as customer service is concerned we were happy to see the free phone support was available with this version but were disappointed with the quality of the responses that were given. We also took exception with the on-line FAQ that seems to be a bit scary itself given the amount of data that is present. Ultimately, there is a lot of work to be done by Norton to bring this aspect up to par with its competition.
In the larger sense Norton AntiVirus is a good product that offers its users a great amount of features that make a good anti-virus product great and in this regard Norton AntiVirus 2009 comes out shining. Nevertheless, if you are expecting to get the best in customer service you may have to hold your breath as they have yet to find parity between their customer service and the quality of their software. They earn 5.5 Stars!

CA Anti-Virus Plus 2010
CA Anti-Virus Plus CA Anti-Spyware 2010 gives computer users the ability to protect their computers from not only viruses but also from spyware and other related threats. Overall the this antivirus software program installed well, though it does seem to cause a little bit of lag. We did, however, feel that it is a good trade off for having some form of virus and spyware protection. This software seems more than capable of handling most threats to a user's computer.

Our experience with the customer service aspect of this program was, for the most part, a satisfying one. We appreciated the easy to use FAQ pages and the prompt responses that we received from our on-line tech chat and email queries. Other than that CA Anti-Virus Plus CA Anti-Spyware 2010 is a great program for a beginning user and although we feel that expert users will be disappointed with the lack of options and customization. It is hard not to think that most people would be happy with its ease of use. They earn 5.0 Stars!

McAfee Anti-Virus 2010
McAfee VirusScan Plus 2010 is a solid contender in the antivirus software market. Its ability to find and remove threats was definitely above par. It turned out to be one of the better products that we came across.

McAfee VirusScan Plus 2010 also shines in the area of providing extra perks to the user. This is evidenced by the file shredding utility as well as the personal firewall that comes with the program. Customer support, while not entirely comprehensive, does seem to be able to help with most any problems that may be encountered by the casual user. In this sense the service is fairly good, despite the inability to make phone contact right away.
Overall we found the software to function well. It removed the threats that it encountered and it provides a few extra perks as well. This together with adequate customer service can make this program a good choice for many users. We give them 5.0 Stars!

Kaspersky Antivirus '10
Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 is the most recent in a long line of high quality security software products and the 2010 antivirus
is no different. My overall perception of the product is that you are
being delivered a high quality product and the testing results
indicated that is the case. This antivirus software program is easy to use, easy to maintain and does not take up too many resources during the normal operating process.

In the past the support has been better but we will continue to check on this as the year goes on but for now Kaspersky Antivirus 2010 receives a 4.5

Panda Antivirus '10
Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 is a much upgraded version of the 2009 antivirus program but still falls short of some of the other antivirus products in this category. Panda Security has done a really nice job with the 2010 antivirus product but still has issues with memory usage and how that effects the normal operations of your computers operation. They have added some nice features and upgraded some other.

One of the downside to Panda Antivirus Pro 2010 falls into the customer service department. While we were able to make use the FAQs and the email options, but there was no live chat available and only technical support during business hours. Unfortunately, people tend to install antivirus software at home and at night. Combine the service and the memory issues and we thing that Panda Antivirus has come a long way but still has some way to go. With that said, Panda Antivirus 2010 earns 4.5 Stars!

CA Anti-Virus 2010
CA Anti-Virus 2010 is able to offer users a basic defense against virus threats. The installation was trouble free, though ultimately it did slow our computer down just a bit. Operation of the anti-virus program was simple and it appears that the software is able to effectively handle and remove a variety of threats from the user's computer.

Additionally, the access to on-line help features did make it easier to troubleshoot and resolve problems although we really do feel that phone support should be available for free and not a paid option. ESET NOD 32 4.0
Using ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0 was a better experience then we expected. Installation was clean and simple. The user interface was much better than previous versions and made the anti-virus software much easier to navigate for new users and advanced users alike.

ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0 performed admirably in the removal of many threats that were on our computer and seemed to be able to stop new ones from gaining a hold on our systems. All in all a good virus protection software.
Our foray into the customer service portion of this product while full of information was somewhat scrambled. All the possible information that we needed seemed to be present but searching for what exactly we needed felt like a chore. This coupled with the lack of readily accessible phone support did leave something to be desired. Though again the information is there it is just a matter of finding what exactly you need.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus 4.0 is an excellent antivirus program that appears to be quite effective. Navigation is much more simplified and caters to both the new and advanced user. The only piece that is lacking is good phone support for problem troubleshooting. Although even this can be bypassed considering the amount of information that is available on the product site. Star Reviews gives them 4.5 Stars!

Trend Micro Anti-Virus
Trend Micro's Antivirus plus Anti-spyware now gives its customers the tools it needs to battle malicious spyware, amongst things like trojans, hackers, worms, and adware.
The antivirus software component is an easy to use product but after that, the rest of their software can be somewhat confusing for a computer user with less knowledge. At $39.95 Trend Micro's easy to use antivirus software and features are well worth the money; however for the complete bundle if you are willing to work through the startup issues and get a grasp of the system then we feel confident in saying you will be pleased with this product. If this was just an anti-virus software product alone it would receive a much higher rating, but due to the unnecessary time it took to deal with the rest of the software, we feel there are better products out there.
Trends Antivirus is a good product but at $39.99 and no free technical support it receives a 4.0 Star Rating.
