Star Reviews' Favorite Apartments.com Feature: The new "Apartment Living" section proved to be very interesting and informative with dozens of articles covering topics like--questions to ask when looking for an apartment for rent and what to look for before you move in.
About Apartments.com Apartment Rental Listings: Established in 1997, Apartments.com was one of the first websites created that allowed consumers to compare apartment rentals online. The site currently has affiliations with more than 180 newspapers and strategic partners across the United States. When apartment seekers search the Apartments.com website, they can find interior and exterior photos, floor plans, in-depth descriptions for each premium apartment community, classified listings from more than 140 newspapers, local maps, driving directions, community information and more.
The Apartments.com Experience: When we visited the Apartments.com website, we found the layout to be easy to navigate and very user-friendly.
The search functions were very detailed and it made it easy to filter our results down to a manageable level. Many of the search results that were returned included comprehensive rental information including pricing, floor plans, photos and more.
The Moving Center and Apartment Living sections were also very helpful with detailed information that many apartment seekers would find useful.
The Search:
In the process of writing the apartment rental service reviews, our team entered the same search criteria into each apartment finder website in order to compare the results returned. The search criteria included all apartments in downtown Chicago with a price range of $500 to $1,000 per month that allowed cats and/or small dogs. When we performed this search on Apartments.com, we were presented with the following results:
Apartments at :
- 1251 S. Michigan: $696 - $739
- 1130 S. Michigan Ave: $949 - $2,391
- The Park La Salle: $1,000 - $1,950
- 1350 - 60 N. Lake Shore Drive: $900 - $3,450
- Medical District Apartments: $990 - $1,865
Customer Support:
While Apartments.com does have contact information (both a phone number and an email address) customer support is geared more towards property managers than it is for people looking for an apartment. However, when we called customer support, they were cordial and answered the questions we asked.
Upside:
Easy-to-navigate, comprehensive search features, useful apartment information.
Downside:
Customer service isn't really renter-oriented.
