We wanted to find an auto loan so we could get our hands on a brand new ride. Well, in reality, we just wanted to do some auto loan reviews to save you cash. When we came across Auto Credit Express in our search for the top availabilities, we weren’t overly intrigued by the site layout, as it was pretty text-laden and not visually appealing. But, continue on for our whole auto loan experience below.

Star Reviews' Favorite Auto Credit Express Feature:

While Auto Credit Express didn't exactly make us all warm and fuzzy inside, it was nice to see that there's a place where people with bad credit can go to get a car loan. While many of the lenders offering top auto loans claim to help people with bad credit, Auto Credit Express has some of the most lenient credit criteria we've ever seen. Bankruptcies are okay (as long as they've been discharged), your monthly income must be $1,500 and there can't be any repossessions on your credit report within the past year (unless it was a part of a bankruptcy). It doesn't get much more lenient than that.

The Auto Credit Express Auto Loan Application Process:

Applying for a car loan on the Auto Credit Express website was very easy. First we had to enter our location followed by a one-page loan application. While they say it's a "quick" form, it does require a bit of information so have your employer and income information on hand as well as your address history and bank account information.

Once you fill out the form and submit it to the website, Auto Credit Express sends the form to one of their authorized dealerships and it's the dealership that processes the actual application. If approved, the car dealer will contact you and find out what type of car you want. They'll then be able to tell you what you qualify for and whether they have anything in stock that meets your needs. If they have a car you want and qualify for, they finish the loan and the car is yours. It’s a pretty simple process and we appreciated the details outlining the process.

Like many of the other car loan websites online, Auto Credit Express isn't really a lender. They're more of a dealer referral service that matches you up with a dealership working with lenders who extend car loans to people with bad credit.

Auto Credit Express Customer Support:
We really would have liked to see more from Auto Credit Express in terms of customer service. We were able to get in touch with them via email. However, the first two times we tried contacting Auto Credit Express by phone we received nothing but a busy signal. The third time we hit pay dirt and got to speak to a live person who was helpful and was able to direct us to the person who could answer our question (yes, it was a bit of a loop). Less than five minutes later, we were off the phone and had our answer. If you are the patient type, then Auto Credit Express’s customer support is for you, but for the average person needing some answers to their auto loan questions, it will prove to be a pain. Let us recommend visiting their consumer auto financing portal, Funding Way (they're the same people) and their 'Contact Us' link, as our online request did not go to error and the telephone rep we spoke with was courteous and helpful.

Upside:

Downside:

Inadequate customer service on Auto Credit Express website.
