I have spoken in the past about the April 1 expected "release" on the worlds computer population of the latest and greatest (modified) version of the Conficker (Downadup) virus. Many experts estimate that millions of computers have been infected with this threat since January but what is Conficker? Conficker or Downadup is a network worm that takes advantage of vulnerabilities in Windows to spread. Its removal is complicated by the fact that it blocks many known antivirus software and associated websites.

What does this means to you and me? It means that our antivirus software we have running on our computer may be disabled before it gets to stop this virus. BitDefender has a simple removal tool for users that seems to work very well in this situation from the reports we have heard.
So until your antivirus software is updated to protect you against the Conficker Virus ... beware of the April Fools Day gift you may receive.
