With increasing talk about the dangers of mixing driving and cell phone usage, Star Reviews decided to test the As Seen on TV Product the Jupiter Jack. Perhaps you have seen the infomercial for Jupiter Jack on TV with pitchman Billy Mays promoting the product, it looks like it works nicely, but even we know what TV editing can do – so we placed our order for Jupiter Jack online. We originally saw the Jupiter Jack on the Discovery Channel’s show Pitchmen, but we admit we were “sold” when we saw the Billy Mays infomercial.
About a week and a half after we placed our order, we had our Jupiter Jack in hand. The packaging was interesting as it was packed Black Jack, but with a little digging we found that story. It seems that when Jupiter Jack was first released, it was released under the name Black Jack, but due to some trademark issues they were forced to change the name to Jupiter Jack. I guess they are just trying to get rid of some old packaging materials, either way we were eager to put our new Jupiter Jack to the test.
With many states writing laws against driving while talking on your cell phone, it seems timely for us to look into a product like the Jupiter Jack. Our initial impression with the Jupiter Jack was a good one, the product was complete with batteries and had a few adapters to adapt the Jupiter Jack to many of today’s cell phones. The adapters would work well to turn any cell phone into a hands free phone. We noticed on the page when we placed our order it details turning your radio the frequency 99.3FM for the Jupiter Jack to work, but on the unit we received it instructed us to turn to 88.7FM, no big deal the Jupiter Jack worked perfectly on 88.7FM. In our area there is actually music that comes in on the frequency 88.7FM which concerned us at first, but as soon as you switch the Jupiter Jack to the on position it goes away and your phone call come through your car’s stereo speakers loud and clear. We tested the Jupiter Jack with both incoming and outgoing calls and it worked very well. The sound clarity was great and even with our cell phone a few feet away on the dash, the person on the other end of the phone could hear us perfectly.

- Even with music normally on that frequency used, it worked perfect without any static
- Avoid costly tickets for driving while talking on your cell phone with Jupiter Jack
- More comfortable than having a Bluetooth in your ear
Cons
- Still need to handle the phone to accept and dial calls
- No need for the product if your car has a built in Bluetooth system
The Jupiter Jack really pleased us with its performance, admittedly we had our doubts when we heard music on the frequency used for the Jupiter Jack, but as soon as the Jupiter Jack was turned on it was flawless with producing rich and accurate sound from our phone call with no interference. The Jupiter Jack is a very safe accessory if you need to speak on your cell phone while driving, many studies have showed while handling your cell phone and driving you are putting yourself, your passengers and others on the road at risk. If you don’t feel comfortable wearing a Bluetooth headset (like myself) and/or your car is not equipped with a Bluetooth system (like mine), then the Jupiter Jack is a perfect choice. We would recommend the Jupiter Jack to anyone, safety should be your first concern on the road, so get that cell phone out of your hand and go hands free with Jupiter Jack.
