The Water Jet promises to turn any ordinary water hose into a high-power washer. If this were truly the case then the Water Jet would definitely be a product I would want to have in my garage. The infomercial claims its perfect for when a heavy, high priced pressure washer is too much power but a garden hose is not enough. Any one who owns a home has had an instance where a this type of water pressure would be useful. We decided to test out the Water Jet and see if it really could meet this need.
At the time of this post we had purchase our Water Jet for $19.99. The package comes with the Water Jet hose attachment and two nozzles to allow you to both stream and fan spray. The Water Jet has a stainless steel valve to allow you to control the flow of water and the overall construction of the product seemed sturdy.
We first tested the Water Jet on a paver driveway. We used the spray nozzle to clean between the pavers and remove weeds. After that we switched to the fan nozzle to use the Water Jet as a "water broom". The Water Jet did a decent job but we couldn’t help but notice the water pressure didn’t seem to be all that strong. For comparison, we used the same exact hose with a typical store bough nozzle. The Water Jet did perform slightly better than the standard nozzle, but the difference in water pressure was not that dramatic.
We went on to test the Water Jet on a second story window as well as on the wheels of a car. In both cases the Water Jet didn’t wow us. Although the pressure was greater, it didn’t seem to be a big enough difference to really be impactful.
Pros:
- Does increase water pressure slightly
- Valve allows control of water flow
- Length of product means less reaching
Cons:
- Not quite as powerful as infomercial shows
There is no doubt that the performance of this product will vary according to the water pressure in the home it is being used. The house we tested it in probably had average to a little below average pressure. This type of pressure is where the Water Jet would really be needed most and it didn’t quite deliver. It performed slightly better than a standard nozzle but not enough to really live up to the claims. As a result we gave the Water Jet an average rating of 3 out of 6 Stars.
