Continuing with our commitment to evaluating the vast number of female oriented products out on the As Seen On TV market, we brought back Wendy to try out the EZ Combs. These seemed pretty cool to us and appeared to be an easy way for women with long hair to put it up with some style. So Wendy came over and tried them out for us. Read on to hear the results.
The kit is pretty basic and comes with two EZ Combs along with some simple instructions on how to create different styles with the EZ Comb. The two colors you get in the package are Carmel Bronze and Dazzling Silver. However, at the time of the offer we took advantage of, they threw in a Classic Bermuda Black EZ Comb as a bonus. So, for just $10 plus S&H we got all three EZ Combs. The infomercial touts these combs as a way to create dozens of dazzling hairstyles instantly, regardless of hair type.
Our female tester, Wendy, has long, straight hair of medium thickness and was a perfect fit for trying out the EZ Combs. It took Wendy a bit of time to get the hang of using the EZ Combs and learning how to manipulate them to get the right look. Even after spending some time working with them, it wasn’t nearly as easy as they make it look in the infomercial to get them to lie perfectly. Wendy tried several of the more complicated styles and it was actually difficult to get them right. Once inserted, they didn’t always feel secure and seemed that the hold would not last long enough. Once Wendy was able to get a basic style set up correctly, she was pleased with the look and the fact that the EZ Comb was flat and would bother her if her head were resting against something like a car seat.
Pros:
- Soft and Comfortable to Wear
- Flat in Hair
- More Stylish Than Most Hair Bands/Clips
Cons:
- Not As Easy To Use as Portrayed
When all was said and done Wendy felt that she would use them for some basic styles on occasions where she wasn’t really dressing up. They weren’t nearly as easy to use as she had hoped and the resulting hairstyles were pretty average looking. The EZ Combs could certainly have some uses for most women with long hair, but aren’t quite what they are made out to be in the infomercial. We also questioned the quality and longevity of the beadwork and elastic on the combs. Therefore, we give the EZ Combs an average rating of 3 out 6 Stars.
