The Marshmallow Popper just looked like too much fun to not try out. I have two boys and they love to play with the Nerf guns. There are two problems with these however. First, the darts can definitely hurt, especially if they hit you in the face or head. The second problem is that they are always losing darts. So a gun that fires mini marshmallows seemed like the ultimate solution to both these issues. The only question left to answer was, would it perform as well as promised?
The Marshmallow Popper itself is rather basic in its premise. To load the Marshmallow Popper, you drop mini marshmallows or foam pellets (a bag full of the pellets is included with the gun) down the barrel. Once loaded the gun fires with a pumping action rather than pulling a trigger. Each time you pull back the pump, air is sucked into the gun and projects a marshmallow or pellet out the barrel.
Our testing was a lot of laughs. We basically ran around the office shooting each other with mini marshmallows. Even though the directions say not to eat marshmallows shot from the gun, we were eating up our discharged rounds. The guns worked great. Although we didn’t measure, the Marshmallow Popper definitely shoot close to the manufacturers claim of up to 60 feet. They were easy to reload and the marshmallows didn’t hurt a bit when they hit you, not even headshots. The only issue we encountered was slight clogging at the tip of the barrel from sticky marshmallows. However, a quick rinse with hot water immediately remedied this.
Pros:
- Easy to Use
- Great For Kids 8 and Up
- Never Run Out of Ammo
Cons:
- Occasional Clogging of Barrel
We truly had a blast with these guns and my kids loved them too. I do recommend they use them outside so no mini marshmallows end up under the sofa for the next month. We gave the Marshmallow Popper a near perfect score of 5.5 out of 6 Stars.
