Whenever StarReviews gets the opportunity to review and test any As Seen on TV product it is fun, but when the product is geared towards children, we can’t help but let the kid in us come out!  We recently got the chance to test the As Seen on TV product Bendaroos, the amazing flexible building sticks.  The Bendaroos are rated for children ages 3 and up, so when us adults got our hands on them we were eager to build the best creations we could using the included instruction and idea guide.

The Bendaroos kit we received was the mega kit with 500 different colors, 250 rainbow colors and 250 bright neon colors.  The kit also included a fun guide which was basically an instruction guide to give you ideas on what to create and show you step by step how to create them.  We also received 10 traceable templates which offered up some easier to create designs.  The kit is expandable by giving you a link to print out some more of your own templates via the website.

At first look, the Bendaroos kit looked very complete and seemed to be able to provide hours worth of good constructive entertainment without a problem.  We quickly looked through the fun guide to see what ideas we could agree on to create.  We started out by making the spider which proved to be both challenging as well as rewarding when it was complete.  We moved on to a giraffe we found in the fun guide and it was slightly more difficult to create.  At this time we were starting to question the age recommendation of ages 3 and up as possibly being a bit optimistic, some of these designs in the guide were downright difficult.  For the video we wanted to create a design using the traceable template and we were able to successfully make a Bendaroos turtle in short order, now maybe the traceable templates are easier for the younger kids.

Pros:

  • A lot of Bendaroos and idea guides to provide hours of fun
  • Brings out and encourages creative thinking from children
  • Downloadable templates expand the kit

 Cons:

  • Age recommendation is a bit optimistic at ages 3 and up, might be better suited as 6 and up

Overall, the Bendaroos are a great As Seen on TV product. With the age recommendation of 3 and up even us adults had a good time testing out the product.  We were able to use the included fun guide and traceable templates to create some cool designs and the Bendaroos were so easy to work with that it really didn’t have much of a learning curve at all. Our mega kit certainly gave us more than enough Bendaroos to work with, and we could see this product really being fun for kids to use, not to mention the added benefit of getting their minds creatively involved in an activity.  StarReivews.com gives the Bendaroos 5 out of 6 Stars.  The Bendaroos are definitely an As Seen on TV product that are awesome, although we think the age recommendation is a little bit optimistic.
