Is there anything more annoying than having a button pop off your shirt at the most inopportune time? Especially if you are traveling and don’t have many options. If you are anything like me and not the handiest person with a needle and thread this problem becomes even more irritating. That’s where The Buttoneer comes in handy. This device promises to replace a button a seconds with no needle or thread. If it can deliver this would certainly be one useful product I would want to keep handy at all times.
We purchased The Buttoneer for $10.95 and included in the kit were The Buttoneer Button Fastener, 50 fasteners, a bag of miscellaneous buttons, and a nicely done instruction guide. The Buttoneer uses the small clear fasteners in place of thread to secure lost buttons. In fact, you can use The Buttoneer for a variety of tasks including repairing loose straps, hemming, decorating crafts and applying appliqués.
For our first test we used The Buttoneer to replace a missing button from a men’s shirt. There was definitely a slight learning curve to using the product effectively, but once we got the hang of it we were able to replace the button in a matter of seconds. The clear fasteners held the button in place securely and were no more noticeable than thread.
We also tested The Buttoneer’s effectiveness in creating a hem. Using a pair of men’s pants we were able to quickly hem up the leg. The hem was definitely secure and would not fall but in this instance the fasteners were not nearly as discreet as a professional hem. If you were in a bind though and need to repair a hem quickly this would be a real life saver and could definitely get you through until you could see the tailor.

Cons:
The bottom line on The Buttoneer is that it delivers on its promise to replace buttons and do some basic repairs quickly, effectively and without the use of needle and thread. For slightly more than ten bucks it is certainly worth keeping one of these around for those times you will need it, especially if you travel a good deal. We were quite pleased with the performance of The Buttoneer and give it a very strong rating of 4 out of 6 Stars.
