Anyone who does a good deal of cooking will have a need for some type of mandolin slicer at some point. Even those with the best knife skills will find themselves in a situation where they need a lot of even slices and wish they had the right tool for this job. Professional mandolin slicers can be really pricey and many of the budget versions just don’t do the job well enough. Since we loved the Vidalia Chop Wizard, we couldn’t wait to get our hands on the Vidalia Slice Wizard and put it to the test.
At $19.95, The Vidalia Slice Wizard is an attractive alternative to mandolin slicers that can easily cost $50 – $100. The Slice Wizard comes with five different inserts to meet any of your slicing, dicing, julienne or mincing needs. There are thick, thin and ultra thin slicing inserts to allow you to slice to the perfect thickness for any particular need. Also included are thick and thin julienne inserts. The included safety holder makes sure your fingers never get close to the precision blade and the rubber feet prevent the slicer from moving around while you are using it.
We tested the three different slicing inserts with a variety of fruits and vegetables and the Vidalia Slice Wizard worked amazingly well. In a matter of seconds the Slice Wizard made easy work of everything we tested on it and delivered perfect, even slices. For those who have never used a mandolin slicer, it takes a few tries to get the hang of it. Once mastered however, the results are sure to please.
The inserts were easy to switch in and out and the included storage rack keeps them all organized. Once we had the julienne blade in we grabbed a potato and started slicing. The Vidalia Slice Wizard worked great again and gave us perfect slices. I only wish we had a deep fryer to cook them up and make perfect french fries.

We had a lot of fun testing the Vidalia Slice Wizard. The product makes the usually laborious task of slicing a breeze. Within a few minutes, virtually anyone will be making consistent, perfect slices. The Vidalia Slice Wizard is an awesome alternative to those pricey mandolin slicers and we give the device a rating of 5 out of 6 Stars.
