The Grip ‘N Flip and Scoop ‘N Strain are a couple of kitchen products that promise to improve on their more traditional counterparts. In her infomercial, Cathy Mitchell makes the two utensils look really great. They handle a variety of cooking tasks with the greatest ease. We had to see for ourselves if the Grip N’ Flip and the Scoop ‘N Strain were really all they were hyped up to be.
The Grip ‘N Flip is an improvement on the basic spatula. It is a combination of tongs and a spatula that let you clamp down to grip and flip when grilling or frying. The top of the Grip ‘N Flip is open so you can even grip and flip fried eggs without popping the yolk. The Scoop N’ Strain is the next generation of ladle. Unlike a traditional ladle, the Scoop ‘N Strain is oversized and has a built-in strainer on the top of one of the sides of the scoop. This makes it ideal for scooping, straining and serving.
We cooked up some fried eggs and then used the Grip ‘N Flip to flip them over. The flat bottom on the Grip ‘N Flip allowed us to easily slide it under the fried egg. We were able to clamp down on the egg with ease and lift up and flip the egg with complete control. The opening on the top of the Grip ‘N Flip allowed it to securely lift the egg without touching the yolk.
For the Scoop ‘N Strain we decided to heat up some canned vegetables. Once they were hot and ready to be served the water they came packed in needed to be strained. We dipped the Scoop ‘N Strain into the veggies and with a slight tilt, all the water strained right out leaving dry vegetables in the scoop. If it were a soup or a broth, we could have easily extracted broth while leaving everything else in the pot by using the Scoop ‘N Strain.
Pros:
- Tools are extremely useful
- Performs a variety of tasks
- Dishwasher safe
The Grip ‘N Flip and Scoop ‘N Strain are pretty basic concepts but they definitely improve on the traditional spatula and ladle. They do a fantastic job and performing the jobs they were made for and met up to our expectations as well as the claims made by Cathy Mitchell on her infomercial. The Grip ‘N Flip and Scoop ‘N Strain garnered a perfect rating of 6 out of 6 Stars.
