ne of the ongoing themes for As Seen On TV products is finding new, innovative ways to improve upon traditional ways of doing everyday things. Nothing exemplifies this more than the Cork Lifter. The Cork Lifter is a new way to open wine bottles by using compressed air to lift the cork from within the bottle. Seems like a good enough idea in theory but how would it actually work in practice?
The Cork Lifter uses a compressed air cartridge to inject air into the wine bottle via a surgical steel needle that is injected down through the cork. With the press of a button the compressed air is supposed to gently lift the cork out of a bottle of wine. It requires no strength or effort to use and would be great for senior citizens or anyone who struggles with old-fashioned corkscrews.
We tested the Cork Lifter out on a couple of bottles of wine and were impressed with the results. The steel needle was really easy to insert down through the cork and required little strength or dexterity to do. Once inserted, a simple push of the button popped the cork right out of the bottle. The cork came out completely in tact and nothing was left behind in the wine. However, the release of the cork wasn’t exactly what we would call gentle. It popped out with a bit of blast, but was completely manageable.

We ended up rating the Cork Lifter with 4.5 out of 6 Stars. It is definitely a cool product and has some wow factor. It did a great job of removing the cork, but for those who are handy with a regular corkscrew, there probably isn’t much advantage to the Cork Lifter. However, if you have difficulty removing corks from bottles, for any reason, the Cork Lifter will be a great addition to your kitchen.
