So maybe I was jumping the gun in my questioning the usefulness of Twitter because if the FBI uses it … then it must be useful. Actually, I am amazed, or maybe impressed that the FBI uses a whole array of Web 2.0 tools in getting the message out. I have to say that while using Youtube, Facebook and Twitter is very progressive of the FBI, I don’t believe you can beat the iPhone App … Most Wanted!

I am certainly not mocking the FBI in their efforts, to the contrary, I am very supportive in anything they can do to help protect us and to help us help the FBI. I guess I am just a little surprised that I had never heard of any of these efforts before. In my mind, Most Wanted should be installed on ALL iPhones before distribution. I think we all have a duty to help the FBI, police and local authorities … but I digress.
The purpose of this article was to say that maybe Twitter has some usefulness as I can tell you that other than wasting a few hours a on a weekend finding friends that I hadn’t heard from in 20 years, and didn’t miss, Facebook certainly has no value to society. Again, I digress.
Yes you can get the FBI in Twitter at http://twitter.com/FBIPressOffice but the FBI has their own Cyber Crimes section to their website with the FBIs latest activities. Check it out at
FBI.GOV.
But the one part that absolutely tells me that the FBI is really all about Web 2.0 … is the Billboard on the game Second Life.
