Game Time Subject to Change
I have been a long time proponent of Stubhub although I have used many of the other online ticket services, I find Stubhub is my personal favorite. So when my wife and I were coming up to New York for our final trip before our first child arrives, I went on to Stubhub to get Met vs Yankees tickets for Sunday afternoon at The New Shea Stadium (Met fans can’t really call it CitiField). That Sunday was today, June 28th.
Todays post was actually supposed to be about my visit to the New Shea but that is not going to happen. I purchased my online tickets at Stubhub in late May for the 1:15 game and we had 6:15 flights out of LaGuardia back to Florida. I never thought anything of it again. Being out of state I never heard the local newscasts discussing the game and the fact that ESPN has picked it up as Game of the Week and changed the time – to 8:15. Thursday before I headed up to New York I decided to print out my online tickets and that is when it hit me like a David Wright home run. Game Time 8:15 right there on the tickets.

Now all sports fans know that every ticket says "Game Time Subject to Change – Please Check Local Listings", but if you aren’t local, you generally do not think about it. I wish Stubhub had sent me a notice of the game time change but that didn’t happen. In the end, I know better and should have paid attention.
So now what? Luckily, I called Stubhub knowing that there wasn’t really much they could, or would do except relist the online tickets. I did that and sold the tickets online in a few hours. Luckily the Met vs The Evil Empire is a hot ticket and I only took a minor loss on the deal. In 30+ years of paying for tickets to sporting events, the Game Time Subject to Change notice has never invoked before ... until today. Lesson learned and i should be home in Florida before the final out!
