I think the Blackberry's have a thing where you can talk and the phone will text what you are saying with those commands, but think of how expensive those phones are and all they parents that don't want to buy them for their kids because they are afraid that the phones will break or stuff like that.

There is an easy way to stop your kids from texting. I am the only one with control over the cell phones in the family. I called the cellular provider and asked customer service to make sure that all the phones could only do voice communications. That is all texting, email, etc. will not function on our phones. And I regularly test the phones to make sure this stays in place.

MediaCurves.com just conducted a follow up study with 205 viewers of a Public Service Announcement (PSA) from the U.K. illustrating the dangers of texting and driving. Results showed that the overwhelming majority of viewers (85%) reported that in the last week, they had reduced the amount of text and mobile messages sent while driving as a result of the video. More in-depth results can be viewed at http://www.mediacurves.com/NationalMediaFocus/J7524-Texting-While-Driving-2/Index.cfm

Can someone please design a phone that has voice command? For example, you? say "text", then say what you want, then command "send",and it'll send the text message. It may save lives. Any phone designers out there can do this? Or even thought of it?

I strongly feel that this should be showed to all new drivers, even some older drivers, most people now day's own a cell phone and could be quilty of using it when they shouldn't. I have a 15 year old son that I showed it to. But. I aso think that a comercial should be played of kids acting responsible, and telling the driver don't do this while driving. Try it both way's.

This should be required viewing for all driver's education classes. Operating a motor vehicle safely and courteously requires focused attention on the road ahead, behind and to the side. Most vehicles do more and more to place buttons where they can be operated by touch, without taking ones' eyes off the road (steering wheel volume controls, as one example.) Texting and driving is becoming illegal in many municipalities for good reason.

You would allow your child watch rated R movies filled with graphic violent and sexual content; listen to all kinds of inappropriate language and music; but you won't allow them to watch a video that would educate them on saving their lives? What a screwed up world we live in!

This is the true reality of traffic accidents! People naively continue to text while driving and people are permanently maimed or die because of driving & texting behavior similar to this. Stop texting while driving already!
YouTube removed this video on Aug 21st. This is still posted online at other sites as of 8AM EST, Aug 22nd.

Shame on YouTube for taking it off site. It is far less graphic than most of the movies at the theater and is no more graphic than some of the programs on cable and network Television. I believe the difference is that this hits them way to close to home. I do sincerely hope that those responsible for the taking of this PSA off the site, never have to deal with this issue from their homes, within their families or their network of friends.
I do not for the life of me understand why is it so important to allow kids to have access to adult activities, like driving automobiles, but then hide from them the realities of distractions because all of a sudden they are to young to see what the real truth looks like. The truth, in this case is distractions, and how these distractions will someday have a direct affect on others like those in the PSA.
You can only hide from the truth for so long, and then it finds you.
