Just because the summer is coming to an end doesn’t mean you can’t still hurry off for a romantic getaway with your significant other. Don’t worry if you’ve already blown this year’s vacation fund on that family trip to Yellowstone. You can still take your spouse on a romantic voyage, without breaking the bank. Here are a few ideas.
Follow some of the most famous words uttered on celluloid. There is truly no place like home, at least when the kids are nowhere in sight. Ask a grandparent or a really, really understanding friend to take your little darlings for the weekend. It may not be a whirlwind trip to Venice, but at least you’ll be able to get a decent night’s sleep. After all, aren’t a few days without screaming mouths to feed the true definition of the word "vacation"!
Romance is all about reconnection, so why not hit some of the old familiar places? You know. The one’s that you remember frequenting in the good old days. When I look back on my relationship, my mind doesn’t go to the most expensive dinners or the nights spent in a four star hotel. I remember eating Chinese food in front of the television, or watching second run movie at the budget multiplex. Take an entire weekend, and recreate your love story.
Commune with nature, and hit your local state park or, if you’re feeling frisky, a more secluded resting place. You won’t need to spend much money on this budget friendly get away. Invest in a cheap tent, a bag of marshmallows, and one sleeping bag! Nothing is more romantic than sitting in front of a campfire, recalling what your life was like before it was hijacked my morning commutes and conference calls.

Scour the internet for deals on
vacation packages specially designed for two. Be realistic about the destination. You aren’t going to find an amazing trip to Aruba for $300, and if you do, it’s probably not going to be at the most hygienically run facility. Why not try Las Vegas, or Miami, or New Orleans? These are
tourist spots that haven’t seen many tourists lately, and would love nothing more than to take your hard earned money. Do a lot of
comparison shopping before you come to any final decisions. You’ll be amazed at how much vacation you can get for a small amount of money.
Whatever trip you decide upon, make sure you form a budget, and stick to it. Fall is the most expensive months to have children, and their needs should be your first priority. These quick weekend getaways are supposed to be about who you are with, not where you are going. Hopefully you will be rekindling your romance very soon.
