How Single Parents Can Find Support
Being a single parent can be very difficult at times. You may feel like you are alone and you may feel completely overwhelmed. Fortunately, there are ways that a single parent can support to help them throw the rough days.
Online Support Groups
There are several online support groups that are specifically geared towards single parents. Another single parent is going to understand what you are going through more than a person who has a partner to help them. There are some online support groups that are geared towards single parents of a certain religion and some that are specifically for single parents in a certain state or region of the country. Another place to look for online support groups for single parents are through different communities at the well-known parenting websites. Most of them have sections in their community areas and message boards designated for single parents to connect with each other.
Family and Friends
Don't be afraid to call on your family and close friends for help. If you need to get out of the house for a couple of hours, ask someone to come watch the kids, just so you can have some time to yourself. Some single parents are too proud to ask for help from family and friends and then they often find that they are burned out and at the end of their line. Instead, simple ask and you may just be surprised at how many friends and family members that you have that are willing to help you whenever you need them.

Churches and Community Places
Look for community churches that offer support groups to single parents. There are plenty of churches that have single parent groups that will meet every so often to get together and talk and socialize. You may also groups for single parents that your local community sponsors. Again, these groups may get together every once in awhile and hold meetings or functions where you can meet other single parents and get some time away as well.
Let People In
This one may not make sense to some people, but single parents have the tendency to shut other people out and not want to get close to anybody. This could simply mean making new friends. It absolutely does not have to involve any romantic relationships. Simply making new friends that share some common interests with you and allow you to get a break from the stress that you may have can be a great support for you. Be sure that you do allow others to enter your life, but use your intuition as to who you can really trust, as usually it is your best tool that you can judge people with.
Being a single parent can be rewarding, but can also be challenging. Having support systems in your life can help any single parent get through their rough days just a little bit easier.
