You should be wary though, as all of them are not offering real bargains; only bait & switch tactics to get you to their websites. With these tips, you will be able to weed out the real bargains from offers that are not deals at all.
- Shop only on a site if you have done your research and know they are reputable. Once you have decided to make a purchase on a product that you think has a bargain price, take a few extra minutes and go to a few other websites that sell the same thing and make sure the price is right.
- Join a bargain hunting forum. These message boards have folks who spend all of their time searching out bargains online and posting them for others to take advantage of, complete with coupon codes and links that go right to the deals.
- Pay attention to shipping costs. If the cost of shipping is high, it quickly turns your bargain into a deal breaker. This is especially true if you can pick the item up locally for roughly the same price without paying for shipping at all.
- Be sure to check sale, clearance, and closeouts categories on any of the websites where you shop.
- A refurbished item can be a great bargain – so don’t immediately throw that idea out the window. Many refurbished products come with a great warranty, just be sure to read the fine print before you decide to make the purchase.
- Buy used for some items. Look on sites like Half.com for pre-owned books, music, and other items
