Twitter is one of the most popular social networking/micro blogging websites available on the internet. The strictly limited amount of characters you can post (140 character limit) is what makes Twitter a micro blogging service. This alone can be a turn-off to people who cannot fathom being able to communicate using such a small amount of characters. read more >> |

Social networking is big business, and I for one would take Facebook over Twitter any day. I love the idea of staying connected with my sister in Washington or an old friend who lives in Jamaica. I don’t enjoy some Facebook traits that people on my friends list annoy me with on a daily basis. I’m sure many of you out there share my concerns and in that spirit, here is a list of the Top 5 most irritating Facebook habits. Any of you out there who commit these acts of aggravation, please do your friends and family a big favor and stop today. read more >> |

I have been on Facebook for about 4 months, and at first loved reconnecting with a few of my long lost friends. We chatted, exchanged wedding stories, baby pictures, and gave short accounts of our day to day lives. Then, the bottom fell out. I became inundated with random thoughts, senseless ramblings, and cryptic messages. I was asked to join causes, donate money to charities I had never heard of, and attend events scheduled in locations thousands of miles away. This just has to end, and that is why I am closing my Facebook account immediately. read more >> |

UK YouTube users will be delighted with the news that music videos are on there way back to the UK site….did it ever leave? As an occasional user on the highly popular and Google owned site, I would suggest that the impact has not been very apparent to me. Fan videos seem to have filled a large gap in interim demand and whilst it will be nice to see the official videos back, it is unlikely that this writer will spend any more or less time on the site as a result of the deal. read more >> |

It had to happen one day and for me maybe I am a bit late in finding it but the business which operates under the name of uSocial.net has got it, understood it and are reported to have been delivering on it for some time, much to the annoyance of Facebook, Twitter and Digg users. uSocial.net is an Australian business and coming from down under you may be forgiven for thinking that their strategy is upside down. Not so and whilst I am initially reluctant to say it, barring the road tests they may have a new fan! read more >> |

An analytics company called iStrategyLabs recently did a study on the demographics of the Facebook users. The study was done between the dates of January 04, 2009 and July 04, 2009. The study showed that the number of users between the ages of 18-24 only grew 4.8% in that time period, while the number of users age 25-34 grew over 60%. What was even more surprising was that ages 35-54 grew 190.2% and ages 55 and older grew a whopping 513.7%. read more >> |

Social Networking sites and I am particularly referring to sites such as Facebook seem to be reeling in the addicts. Originally the idea was to hitch up and spin some yarns with old friends, but now people find themselves inundated every time they log in with requests to send their friends drinks or to Be a Billionaire, Send Diamonds, poker chips, mafia titles and indeed to sell their friends on Hotties for Sale or Friends For Sale. read more >> |

As an ex serving military man myself, I do wonder if they have gone too far. In my day there was a certain rock group whose records you couldn’t play on military bases as they were suspected of being IRA sympathisers ... which in those days made for quite a boring record collection (records or vinyl went out with the iron age ... I know, I’m getting old!) read more >> |

So maybe I was jumping the gun in my questioning the usefulness of Twitter because if the FBI uses it … then it must be useful. Actually, I am amazed, or maybe impressed that the FBI uses a whole array of Web 2.0 tools in getting the message out. I have to say that while using Youtube, Facebook and Twitter is very progressive of the FBI, I don’t believe you can beat the iPhone App … Most Wanted! read more >> |

What do you do on a Monday at YouTube when you notice that the traffic stats from China have halted to a number way too close to zero for comfort? That is exactly what happened yesterday when YouTube officials noticed that he traffic from China had halted, and no, it wasn’t just a case of "The Mondays". It seems that the Tibetan government in exile released a video showing Chinese police brutally beating some Tibetan protestors. The video is still available on YouTube and with a search you can find it, but warning it is pretty graphic at some parts. read more >> |
