Free Data has a lot of free services to offer its new merchants such as no set up fees, no fee to apply, free programming charge, and even free shipping and handling of the terminals and supplies in some cases. They have processing software POS Value Exchange Program, and various terminals to choose from. There doesn’t seem to be any free trials offered or even any free terminals. They do have a website that is easily navigated and a nice FAQ section which was helpful.

Other than the free set up and no application fees, there really isn’t any other mention of pricing on this merchant service providers’ website. They claim to have a “low price guarantee” but the company has ten different types of merchant services accounts, so they choose not to publish the fees for each type of account online. We were able to obtain a sample of their pricing by phone as follows:
First Data Way System – Mobile Credit Card Processing 0% debit card, 1.59% for credit cards + .30 fee. $12 additional per month for 24 hour live customer service by phone and PCI compliance. Additional wireless fee of $20.00 per month. Wireless credit card machine fee is $600 outright or $29.95 per month for a lease.

If you choose to contact this provider, you have a few options such as calling their toll free number, or faxing them or even writing to them directly. Customer service can be reached at 877-547-3765 during normal business hours only. A test call to the customer service department was picked up within two rings and we were transferred immediately to someone who could answer our questions.

Applying for an account with First Data will give a new or existing merchant many options to accept a variety of payments from their customers such as all types of credit cards, checks and even payments over the phone. They also have tech support 24/7 for their merchants in case they have any issues with their products and services.
