If you're anything like the Star Reviews team, you want things to be as convenient as possible – and that includes faxing. While traditional methods of faxing were definitely useful, they couldn't really be considered convenient. Then some brave hero came up with the concept of electronic faxing and the masses were freed from the stresses of offline faxing dilemmas. eFax® was one of the first and is one of the best Fax services on the Web. Of course we had to check them out! See what we unearthed below.

We really liked the fact that eFax caters to a wide variety of clientèle. Some Faxing services cater to personal users or business users. eFax caters to both. Whether you need Fax services for just you and your family or a total eFaxing solution for a corporate conglomeration, eFax has a plan that will work for you.

The eFax® Experience:

When we arrived at the eFax® homepage we were happy to see that the layout was simple and the site was very easy to navigate. Simply click the “Products” link to see what eFax® has to offer and determine which plan is best for you.

eFax's® services can be broken down into three main categories including eFax® Free, eFax® Plus and eFax® Pro. One of these three plans will serve almost any eFax® user. However, if you have electronic faxing needs that are of a larger scale, there are also corporate and developer plans available on a custom pricing basis.

What we really liked about eFax® is that not only could we receive our faxes via email, but we could then forward them to other people using email as well. For instance, let's say you get a fax that you'd like to share with a friend. Just forward the eFax® email to her and she can open it using eFax® Messenger (which can be downloaded for free from the eFax website). In addition to eFax® Messenger, eFax® users can also download other useful software products such as Open Office and PaperMaster Pro.

We also appreciated the fact that eFax® offers an online demo showing exactly how the service works. It takes you through the entire eFax® experience from start to finish before you even sign up. This is perfect if you don't want to waste time signing up for a service only to find out you don't like the way it works.

Another thing that really set eFax® apart from the competition is their wireless faxing capabilities. Not only can you receive faxes on your computer, you can receive faxes via email on your wireless device. Faxes on the go – we'd like to see a traditional fax machine try that one.

eFax® Online Fax Service Pricing:

While the monthly fees are quite competitive, we were disappointed that they charge a one-time setup fee. Many of the other Fax services have done away with setup fees, so this is something to consider when comparing costs. The eFax plans are priced as follows:

eFax® Free – This plan is free to use and includes transmission of your faxes to one email address and 20 incoming fax pages per month.
eFax® Plus – This plan costs $16.95 per month and includes transmission of your faxes to up to five email addresses, 130 incoming fax pages per month and 30 outgoing fax pages per month. A $10 setup fee applies.
eFax® Pro – This plan costs $19.95 per month and includes transmission of your faxes to up to 5 five email addresses and 200 incoming fax pages per month. A $19.95 setup fee applies.

eFax® Customer Service:

eFax® offers customer support via email and an online help database. The online help section is quite impressive with topics covering a wide range of questions such as how to get started with eFax® and what you need to know about statements and billing. We found the help section to be quite in depth and it answered all of the questions we ran into. eFax Plus and eFax pro users get additional customer support with 24/7 access to eFax customer service via email and phone. If you're someone who can't live without live support, the Plus or Pro plan is probably your best bet.

Upside:

Added customer service for Plus and Pro plan subscribers, free service for those with minimal needs, free PaperMaster Pro.

Downside:

Better pricing plans may be found elsewhere.

eFax is the perfect solution for people who don't need a fax machine because they don't or receive lots of them everyday. It's easy to use and understand. You also have the option of printing out the fax or storing it on your computer. I highly recommend that you give them a try and see if it works for you.
