With gas prices on the rise and changing travel patterns emerging, more and more consumers are shopping for new vehicles. That means more trips to dealerships and we all know how pleasant and honest and ethical those salesmen are – not! If you want to get the best deal on a new or used car you have to know what prices the market is demanding. That's where today's car quote websites come into play and our car quote website reviews are highlighting the best of them. Edmunds.com, a popular car quote resource, was one of the first sites we turned to for trusted car quote advice. Wondering how they stood up to our challenge? Here's the scoop...
What's New with Edmunds Car Pricing Website?- True cost to own tools figure out how much the car will cost you over time.
- Free new and used car true market pricing.
- Dealer listings of local cars available.
Our Favorite Edmunds Feature: Our reviews team did like the “Dealer Ratings and Reviews” portion of this site. We all know we can trust a dealer on their word, most of the time anyway. These reviews let you see which dealers hold true to their promises and which you should stay away from.
The Edmunds Experience: The Edmunds.com home page is rather busy, but once you have a minute to digest the site, there are several helpful features available. To get a quote on a new or used car you simply click the appropriate link and enter the information requested, just make sure you click the right link.
When searching for a quote on a used Acura we ended up in the wrong place at first. We thought we were getting a quote but it turns out we were searching the used car database. We quickly corrected our error by clicking on the “Appraise a Car” link and we were taken to the right form.
Getting new car quotes is just as easy. Simply click the New Cars link and navigate to the make and model you are interested in. A general price guideline will be displayed for you. For more specific quotes, there is a follow-up form that you can complete. This form requests that you submit your personal information, such as your email address and phone number. This means you'd better be ready for some sales calls if you decide to provide this information.
Edmunds Features:
- New and used car selections.
- Online appraisal and quote tools.
- Dealership reviews.
- Limited time specials with low APR rates.
- Chat forms and blogs.
- Dealer price quotes.
- TMV pricing reports.
Edmunds Customer Service:
Edmunds offers a variety of customer service options. They have a comprehensive help page that contains a wealth of useful information regarding standards for vehicle prices, vehicle reviews, and buying guides. They also offer information that is geared towards questions about the site itself.
In addition to the help info that Edmunds provides, there are also member postings and forum pages that allows users to communicate questions and issues with one another.
While there is no live phone support, the site does offer a contact form. That, however, is not a quick process. It took the site a whopping three days to get back to us, but we'll assume the delay was due to it being near a holiday weekend.
Upside:
True market appraisals, a wealth of tools and resources, helpful community forums.
Downside:
Site can be a bit confusing to navigate.
