We liked that this merchant service provider gives brand new state of the art terminals to their new merchants at no cost to them and even makes it IP-enabled. The merchants don’t have to use the IP feature, but they can use it at anytime if they wish. Additionally, the terminals are multi-application terminals so you can process credit cards and debit cards, or even accept a check like a credit card.
The Experience
EXS Credit Card Processing will provide its new and existing customers brand new state of the art terminals. Their merchant account set up is free as well as the terminal programming. For their Web and Moto merchants, they provide Authorize.net software for free so that they can process credit card transactions from their own e-commerce website. There is no free trial with this service provider, but they do provide free equipment which is a plus.
Applying for a merchant account is more of a hassle than we had hoped. After going to the “Apply Now” link, we were directed to a page that requires the download of a PDF file. The PDF file is the application which EXS Credit Card Processing states is good because it eliminates the need to fill out a form manually with pen and paper. The major downside of this however, is that in order to save the file to your computer, you either have to purchase Adobe Acrobat Standard, Adobe Acrobat Professional, or Cute PDF which will cost the user $30 or more. We find this process to be pretty ridiculous.

When we contacted their customer service line it was late in the evening and we did immediately get a professional representative on the line. Upside
Setting up a merchant account with this company means you will receive a free terminal package, and in some cases, free payment processing software. These are big savings when it comes to setting up a new merchant account.
Downside
If we were anxious to set up a merchant account, we would have been deterred by the ridiculous application process and the fact that we have to purchase additional software just to save the PDF file.
