Do you need to bring something to the company picnic? Having a dinner party and want to make something that looks costly without being costly? You can make this professional looking dessert without having a culinary degree. Here's a list of ingrediants that you will need.
~9 inch round pan ~wax paper This is for the fudge torte 1 cup flour 1 1/2 tsp powered instant coffee 3/4 cup sugar 3/4 tsp baking soda 1/4 salt 1/4 cocoa 1/2 cup of butter or margarine (softened) 3/4 cup of sour cream 1 egg 1/2 tsp vanilla extract The Glaze 1/2 cup of whipping cream 1 tbsp butter 3/4 cup of your choice of nuts 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/4 cup of sugar 1 1/2 tsp of light corn syrup 1/3 semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat the oven to 350 °, grease your 9 inch pan and then line the bottom with the wax paper. Grease and flour the paper and pan.
- Mix together flour, cocoa, coffee, baking soda, sugar and salt. Add the butter, sour cream, egg and vanilla. Beat on low speed with a mixer until blended. Then increase to meduim for 3 mins. Add the mixture to the pan.
- Bake 30 to 35 mins (or untill a toothpick comes out clean), let it cool 10 mins then move the torte to a wire cooling rack, peel of the wax paper and let it continue to cool.
- Make your glaze. (see step 4 and 5 for directions). Place the cake in the container you'll be using to store it in, then add glaze letting some drip down the sides. Refrigerate untill the glaze is firm. Cover and refrigerate any leftovers.
- For the glaze: Combine all ingrediants leaving out the nuts and vanilla. Place them in a small saucepan cooking it over medium heat, continuesly stirring until it boils, keep stirring for 5 mins and then remove from heat.
- Let it cool for 10 mins, stir in nuts and vanilla.
